I really have learned a lot about the aquarium science, and am ready to learn even more about it when I head to UofH for my BA. It is a great starting point and helped my really decide what area of Marine life I want to work in.

Tuition & Financial Aid:
The education I have received has been good and the cost far compared to other Community Colleges, but they need to make aid available to the middle class. I always runs into the problem that my parents make to much money for assistance or financial aid, but they don't really $85,000 to $90,000 for a family of 4 is not that much.

I'm just finishing the aquarium science program at OCCC. I really liked it the classes and work load was intensive, but the more I got in to them the more I loved what I was learning. I would recommend this program to anyone who whats to work in an aquarium.
I'm heading to Hawaii for a internship and to get my bachelors in Marine Bio.

Most Are Older Adults – I have found that most of the student body consists of more older adults (25+) and they are serious about going to class and doing the work. They like to socialize and have fun, but school, work and families take priority.

Great for Busy People – I was nervous about taking online class because I like to procrastinate, but the schedule in which they require work and responses from people kept me in check. I have two kids, one being a baby, and I work so the flexibility of when I could do classes helped a huge amount. The professors were very good about getting work graded and handing criticism out promptly.

Tuition & Financial Aid:
$99 Per Credit – The cost at OCCC is about $99 dollars per credit being the highest in tuition rates out of the majority of the strand of OCCC's.
The have very little extra money to give scholarships to the students

A So-So Environment – I am a hands on and visual learner, so providing me with a book or books and asking me to continuously summarize it without any work sheets, hand outs, teacher demonstrations and so on. I had issues with some of my professors never replying to me throughout the entire term which may have had an affect on my opinion for online classes because teachers become busy as any human does and can negate replying for whatever reason.

Everyone Does Their Own Thing – A lot of the students have their own agenda but seem nice enough to approach if someone would have a question. the student body is extremely diverse, which i personally like. i feel safe on my campus due to all the security, especially in the parking lots. Student seem respectable of other students, so there is a good atmosphere.

blackboard for the school either works or it doesn't. i believe it has a mind of its own because some days certain files will be under my course, some days the files are gone. the teachers explain to us that they put in everything they need for us on blackboard but sometimes blackboard looses it or puts it in a different order. i believe my school bought the cheapest version of blackboard and should upgrade. the main reason for doing so is because there are so many students, the system will not work or let you log on if there are a lot of students using the network.
Sorry, there are no reviews.
