It is difficult. I'm not going to lie. It's also rewarding though, and some of the advisers are great at helping you sort your life out. There's a lot of work and a lot of opportunities to get into a research lab (which is what I did). Then you can get learning experiences outside of the classroom. Also, the people in the major are all pretty tight knit because of the difficulty of the courses. There's comradeship in the struggles everyone faces.

There's a great variety of academics offered here, and professors try to apply what they teach to more than one subject. Registration usually goes smoothly so you can cater your schedule to your needs. There are a lot of special study options, but sometimes it takes a while to find out about them and then to figure out how to use them. The Academic Success Center is a great resource.

Corvallis isn't the largest town, but it has a fair number of attractions because of OSU sports. There's a farmer's market that is quite popular and provides a great opportunity to see what the community has to offer. Downtown Corvallis also is a fun place to hang out with shopping, cafes, etc.

Guys & Girls:
There's not really anything special about the guys and girls at OSU. They're all just average people with their own awesome stories to tell.

I really like OSU. Yes it has it's flaws, but what school doesn't? Overall, I have met a lot of really great people here from students to staff to community members. It's a very tight knit community and people are always friendly and willing to help. I have had a lot of excellent academic experiences as well inside and outside the classroom. Undergraduate research is a big focus of our school and provides a lot of opportunities for people of all majors.

There is a TON of school spirit, both on the field and off the field. Our teams do fairly well and have a lot of fan support. All of the athletic facilities are pretty nice for the non-varsity athlete as well. The recreation center provides a lot of services for little to no cost for students (other than what you pay for in school fees).

I'm not a party person, so all I really know about the nightlife scene is that it's very available and people seem to have a lot of fun.

I love eating off campus. There's a lot of variety and it's usually in my price range. There are also a lot of vegetarian options which I find helpful. Plus everything is super tasty if you know the right places to go.

I don't live on campus but I live close enough to walk. Hearing others talking about parking makes me grateful that I don't have to attempt that. One of the consequences of the new construction on campus is that they tore up a couple of the main parking lots. There is a parking garage available, but it's a little more of a walk to class.

Having your own laptop is convenient, as is having your own printer. Printing costs money and computers aren't always available. The network on campus is usually pretty good and fast, but sometimes it crashes.

Campus is always busy, especially now that they are trying to expand. Some of the beauty is marred by all of the construction that's going on, but I think it will be worth it in the end. I wish there were more places to study since it gets so crowded, but usually you can find a place. There are many green initiatives on campus with services such as the Student Sustainability Initiatives, recycling in every building and outside, and a gold rated engineering building just to name a few.

When the weather is nice, it's absolutely beautiful. Unfortunately it rains for about 5 months out of the school year. I used to like the rain when I lived in an almost constantly sunny area, but now it takes a toll and a lot of people can struggle with seasonal depression. There are resources on campus to help deal with this type of sadness like sun rooms to simulate natural sunlight.

On campus, alcohol and drugs aren't really an issue. Mainly, it's the surrounding Greek life and bars just off campus.

Health & Safety:
As a female, I don't feel comfortable walking on campus after dark. Last year we had some issues with women being attacked on or near campus that has left an uneasy feeling.

I wish there were more scholarships available that applied to me and that I got more grant money. My family doesn't make a lot of money, and I have two other sisters in college, so it's kind of an issue. I have enough to make ends meet with the help of student loans.

Financial aid is always going to be a nightmare, but OSU does not make it any more complicated.
College Senior 2013-11-05T23:48:04Z
If you need anything on campus they have great places for anything.
College Senior 2013-11-05T23:46:39Z
The campus shuttle is amazing. If you flag it down and you are not by a bus stop they will pick you up and you can ask to get off anywhere on the route. All you have to do is ask.

Guys & Girls:
You will find some very attractive girls all across campus. The engineering department even has some that are very attractive.
College Senior 2013-11-05T23:43:29Z
Health & Safety:
There are emergency buttons all across campus to call the police.

I have lived off-campus during my entire schooling and I have not had a difficult time find a place. As always the landlords are aware of where people want to live therefore housing closest to campus is the most expensive, but it is still reasonable.
College Senior 2013-11-05T23:38:56Z
Everyone knows that this is some students entire life as they are living, eating, studying, and socializing therefore facility respect you and your stuff and the campus police try to ensure that you and your stuff is protected as well.

This is a college town and everyone knows that. It is a great place to live and many families live in the town year round.
College Senior 2013-11-05T23:34:34Z
Great computers available throughout campus. In some of the non-main building the computers do get a little dated (only a few years old). You will always have a choice of Mac, Window, and Linux.

It was hard for me to get financial aid because of my parents income, I was not eligible.
Sorry, there are no reviews.
