Many students view the security guards as being a pain in the neck. They are extremely strict with following campus regulations. Even if they recognize the students, they will not permit entrance to the University if the students don't have their IDs. They take their time finding their names in the computer systems before allowing them into the building. Guests must be signed in, and if they don't have their guest pass, they will not be allowed in their hosts' dorms. They are forced to get another guest pass, and the host will probably be fined for their lapse of forgetfulness. With drugs and drinking, students have to be careful in indulging in these substances because if the guards catch these students, they will not show any mercy.
If students get caught for the first time, they will get a warning. If they continually break the rules, they have to attend judicial meetings with the administration. If the school views the student as being reckless, he or she will probably be suspended for a couple of days. If the case is way worse, the student will be asked to leave the University. These regulations are expected at every university, so the extremity is understandable. It's OK to have fun, but students have to make sure they follow the rules.
