Is the neighborhood safe? And are people friendly?
The neighborhood is very safe and the people are super friendly. We can assure that you will not have to worry about not feeling secure or safe.
It depends. It can be very detracting if you make a lot of friends.
No its really easy for me and i have lots of friends.
Really? Nice! Also my mum said its more of a professional/adult school than a normal college. Is it really so?
I highly doubt it'll be difficult for you to study.
So you're saying it's difficult to study because there is civilization around you? :P Maybe try for a more isolated university like U of Maine or something local to you.

Most people who reside outside of New York think that New York City is a dangerous, crime-filled city, but their opinions will change once they visit New York in just a day. It is true that New Yorkers walk a fast pace, but they will stop and acknowledge a person's existence if he or she has a question about directions. Though pollution is inescapable, the Big Apple is always brimming with energy; every day seems to have more positive events than negative. There are a lot of clothing stores, both expensive and inexpensive. There are plenty of restaurants, as well, both high-end and cheap eats. One can do so much in New York City. It's definitely the best place to go exploring, but people should stay away from sketchy alleys at night. There are students everywhere—all over from NYU, Fordham, Columbia, etc. Many of these students are normal teenagers, just looking for a good time.
New York City has so much to offer, in many forms of entertainment that can overwhelm people who are not familiar with the city. It's important that a person doesn't try to do everything in a day, to take a considerable amount of time exploring one place. Many items are very pricey, and a person's wallet can easily deflate. If a person is overwhelmed by the constant activity, there are many relaxing parks, including Central Park, where one can gain a piece of mind and freedom from the hectic-ness.
