Academics are serious at Palm Beach State College. You get out what you put in. Classes are challenging and rigorous, especially the math and science courses. Teachers want to ensure that each student is knowledgeable on a wide variety of topics. While some classes may require more intensive work than others, they are all aimed at preparing students for higher educational opportunities and providing employment training. Some teachers may be given the stereotype of "easy" or "hard," but it all depends on the individual student's strengths and weaknesses.
Summer classes are intensive. This is only because instructors have to cover the same amount of information as they would in a 16-week semester in a shorter time. These classes may seem overwhelming to the less-than-serious student. Otherwise, teachers are sure to expose students to as much as they possibly can while they are together. In addition, teachers aren't looking to fail students. They want to do everything reasonably possible to guarantee student success.
