Diversity and institutional equity are constant focuses at Palm Beach State College. Students come from a wide variety of backgrounds. Palm Beach State College openly believes that diversity is a strategic priority and should be embraced as a reflection of society that should enhance the educational process. With that in mind, the College has focused on the formulation and creation of several different student activity groups. Ethnic clubs such as the Spanish and Latino Student Association (SALSA), German Club, and the International Student Club all seek to educate individuals about the importance of cultural diversity, familiarity, and acceptance. Ethnic clubs aren't the only available organizations at Palm Beach State College. The Gay-Straight Alliance, Group 5 Art, and Phi Theta Kappa International Honor Society are also clubs students can join if interested. While the honor societies are by invitation only, all other clubs are open for participation. Because Palm Beach State College wants to make sure each and every student feels welcomed, the Dr. Martin Luther King Annual Celebration Breakfast is a yearly event in commemoration of Dr. Martin Luther King; it also honors outstanding individuals throughout the community who have taken active roles in improving the lives of others. And while many students may be unable to attend, the school broadcasts the event live on the Internet so that all students can participate.
