I love how the exterior and interior of the building feels lively instead of like you're in a mundane area. The exterior is also very unique and garden-like which I fell in love with on the first day.

I haven't taken any online courses.
Going into Parkland, I wouldn't have chose to take two studio art classes at one time. I don't have that much free time for it. I work thirty plus hours a work and go to school full time. That is why I need this scholarship. I'm struggling heavily with my finances.

Hopefully transferring will be easy.

My school has the best online program. I have been doing my first year all online, and I love it! Being a mom my life gets hectic, but with Parkland I'm finishing school more smoothly.

We have some of the best and most up to date facilities I know of. There are a lot of really great nooks and crannies where you can find peace and quiet to study. Our classrooms are the perfect size, keeping the class size smaller helps our instructors to not feel overwhelmed, which helps all of us succeed. I feel that there is a lot of great resources available to the students as well, as our library is three floors and has it's own classroom and several study rooms. I have no trouble spending extra time on campus, especially when the weather is nice, you can always find a shady spot to sit and read or just catch up with fellow students.

Tuition & Financial Aid:
I received financial aid for my first and second semesters. Getting everything in order when I initially applied for it was like being in the circus. There were so many things I had to get and submit in order to be awarded. I didn't mind having to gather all the information, but it seemed that with every question I had, there were two or three answers. I was never able to work with just one person regarding my financial aid. There was one guy that worked in the financial aid office that was a complete jerk, and acted like I should already know the answers to the questions I had. It was not the best experience.

The facilities on campus are fantastic! We have a gym, theater, planetarium, a huge library, and a center for academic success. My school has made it so easy to stay prepared and keep students from getting bored. I don't mind hanging around campus when I have spare time between or after classes.

The computer network and labs are just fine. I do think that printing on campus should be included in tuition though. I have a laptop that I use most of the time, not that the computers provided aren't good, I just think it's better to give those in need of the schools computers the chance to utilize them. The wireless access is good, and fast, but I think that instead of being required to log-in to the wi-fi every time you enter the building, you should only have to do so once a week if you're using the same devices.

There are so many options to choose from when deciding on times for classes and other meetings at my school. The faculty and staff really go out of their way to make sure you're able to balance life in and out of school. They're all very friendly, knowledgeable and helpful people. The building is laid out so that almost all of the offices a student needs to visit regularly are virtually in the same spot. Convenience is a obviously a priority at my school.

I cannot speak on this at this time. I have not yet utilized these services.

I cannot rate the online programs or professors as I have not taken any online courses at this time.

The school I attend is extremely diverse. There are people from all walks of life, sexual orientations, ethnic backgrounds, religions, and economic structures. Everyone is not quick to judge and very accepting of one and other. It amazes me how willing everyone is to get to know you, and at the same time willing to lend a helping hand, be it academic or just a shoulder to lean on. I believe the student body at Parkland College is the best group of people anyone could be a part of.

I love out library! It is modern and is easy access for about all areas of the college. It has multiple computer labs and that allows for multiple areas to get access to a computer. They also have many textbook from different subject that are helpful for those who might not have their own or needing different reference books.
College Junior 2013-10-26T17:01:16Z
Overall the wireless access is great, but there are a couple spots in the school that have weak signal.

Have U of I near Parkland is very helpful because there are actually quite a few campus life opportunities and social scenes that are shared between the schools. I personally don't spend a lot of time at the school doing activities because between my family, full time school, and work I do not have a whole lot of time to spend at the schools activities.

There are some teachers that have great online classes, but I have had some really rough classes. I have a pretty good work ethic, so staying on top of an online class are not a problem, but some of the online classes do not have a good outline of what the teachers would like us to focus on, and in return make it very difficult to take quizzes and tests
College Junior 2013-10-16T05:42:21Z
Our school is a smaller student body so our professors are able to have more of a one on one with the students. It is nice that I can easily go up to the teachers office and discuss topics with my teachers. Many teachers are quite creative with their teaching styles which makes for an interesting class day. I've enjoyed attending many of my classes and I love that signing up for them is online. It's very easy to work with and I enjoy how easy the process is.

Online classes at Parkland College are set up amazingly well. Easy access and easy to understand. However, online classes are something that requires much self discipline. I had to keep up with two online classes and two other classes. I was balancing all that with a job that worked me nearly everyday. I thought it would be easy with the convenience of being able to study any time, but the work load was challenging. It was nice doing the class on my own but I missed having the in class experience with the teacher guiding me on what needed to be done.

There are many different races and ages of people there. My college is a community college so it is a common thing to see students who you have went to school with in the past. Many of the younger students stick with who they have already known during their free time. I see much interaction inside the classrooms between different students but outside they take it very slowly in building social statuses between people. At that young age, many students are deciding whom they wish to associate with and what they desire to do with their lives.

I actually just transferred over to the business major and so far my classes are what I have expected. All the classes I have been taking so far has been able to be applied to my major. I've always enjoyed handling and organizing money in some way, so the classes are quite interesting. I plan on working as a teller at a bank once I finish classes. Due to the degree I have, I will be able to move up quickly in my work field.

This school makes it very easy to make a flexible schedule. That was one of the reasons I chose to go there because I needed a schedule to go around my work schedule. I love this school!

I am older and I feel very comfortable going to Parkland College. They have great programs and make it very hard for you to fail unless you have zero desire to succeed. I love it.
College Sophomore 2013-10-10T15:35:51Z
I have not started to take classes that would benefit me in my major yet.
College Sophomore 2013-10-10T15:34:35Z
Most of the time teachers kept me updated with my grades so I would know how I am doing in the course.
