Guys & Girls:
The ratio of guys to girls is way too high. More girls need to attend Behrend.

I have never utilized the public transportation. From what a couple of my buddies have said it doesn't seem too bad.

I love the campus and University. It is so easy to fit in and the sense of community within the university is great. There is no other place I would rather be.

Health & Safety:
There haven't been very many incidents on campus. When there are though the campus police are there and do everything in their power to help students.

So much diversity on campus and the acceptance is great. The different diversities have their own clubs even and they fit in very well. We do have a large group of international students.

It was a bit challenging since it was the first time I ever filed for financial aid, but I don't expect any problems next year.

I haven't really been to off campus dining but many like Hungry Howies for pizza and on Peach Street, there are a ton of different restaurants for all types of food.
College Student 2013-12-02T21:29:36Z
I love the food here. It's always available and always freshly made. Anything you want, they have. Most of the time.

Greek life is REALLY big here. They have a big recruitment session and many people join. If you don't join though, you aren't treated any differently. They still invite non Greeks to their parties and still treat them as individuals with respect and kindness.

Many people commute from home and school by bus or car. Although some do fly back home.
College Student 2013-12-02T21:26:17Z
The computers here are AMAZING. They are barely ever down and are always up to speed. The availability for computers is great too. There is always somewhere to use a computer if you don't have one or if yours broke and if it did break, you can just take it to the tech support and they fix it with no problem.

There are MANY different academic opportunities offered at this school.

My major is Wildlife and Fisheries Science, so that means I have to transfer to Main in a year and a half. Right now, I am focusing the my Gen Eds and some classes I can get out of the way before I transfer. They are specific to my major and do have a degree of difficulty but not impossible.

I haven't really been exposed to off-campus housing but I've heard that everyone loves it and there are always flyers up to inform people of houses and apartments off campus.

It's cold most of the time, but that doesn't stop people from having a great time. You just have to dress for the weather. It's mostly the same as the weather at home so I was prepared.

So far, I LOVE this school. Yeah the classes are difficult, but it's college so it's supposed to be challenging. The student life has enabled me to join the clubs I want to join and get along great with them. I work here on campus and their flexibility is wonderful. The thing that makes our school unique is at the end of the day we remember that "WE ARE... PENN STATE!" Collectively, we are a family because our school is one big family. It makes me feel like I'm part of something big and great. I would chose this school all over again just because it's the perfect choice for me; everything I want and need is right here.

Guys & Girls:
Well, the ratio for boys and girls in this school is 6:1, so there are plenty of guys who are usually always involved in some sort of sport or playing videogames. Typical dress for a guy; jeans and flannel or hoodie. For girls; it varies. Some girls dress nice everyday, some look like they rolled out of bed and some are somewhere inbetween. Relationships are always coming up on campus. Many people came here in a relationship, either with the significant other or having them at a different school. Interests; partying, movies, student life, videogames; for both boys and girls.

Penn State has SO many clubs and activities that it is impossible to not find a club you can't fit in with. There is a club for EVERYONE on campus and if there isn't, you can make one. It's so easy. The diversity and activites on campus is always changing and always up to date. Many clubs focus on extracurricular activities, religion and they also include academics. It's a great way to get involved and be come apart of the school even more.

Student life on campus is really awesome, it could be a little better if more people were involved but it's still awesome. The facilities are wonderful and make you feel comfortable, wherever you are. The library is very relaxing and enables you to study and do homework in a quiet, relaxing environment. The athletic center has a wide variety of exercises and classes for students to participate in. The green area/nature on campus is beautiful. Many places where you could just take a blanket and sit outside. Very nice. A campus event I've noticed is the Hanging of the Greens that is taking place this Friday. Many people take part of it, along with THON which is another big tradition people participate in. The student life on campus is a lot of fun, there is always something to do.

The level of strictness on campus, is dually noted and respected; for the most part. The campus police are really big on alcohol and drugs in the dorm rooms and on campus; if they find you with it, it's an automatic referral and contract violation. Which I think is smart and responsible. Some teachers are pretty strict on attendance and some could careless. They leave the decision to do well in the class up to the students. Penn State is very big on plagiarism and doing your own honest work. Visitation is great, there are no real rules except to escort your guest out. The noise regulations could be better enforced. When it's quiet hours, many people just don't care and continue to speak loudly or even scream and blast music and not care about others.
College Student 2013-12-02T21:06:02Z
I'm going to be honest, there are many people that I've met that take part in some form of drug or alcohol. Along with the people that I've met, you can tell that some people are high or drunk during the school day. I don't go for that, at all. I believe that during the week, the focus should be on school work; not getting high or partying. The peer pressure aspect isn't that broad or prominent. I have been offered weed, I declined and that was that. No one was pressuring me to do it. They respected my decision.

I feel that the athletics at this school are "advertised" well. Everyone is a big supporter of the basketball and volleyball teams, that I've seen so far. We don't have football up here, that's for Main but everyone tries to go to all of those games and attend others as well. I am part of the dance team so I see many people show up for the basketball games and cheer them on. The facility is really nice. I love working out in the gym, the equipment is always clean and functioning and isn't limited to just athletes; anyone can use it.

I love my dorm and its' location to the campus and my activities. I love the dorm life, I live in one of the suites. It is a little costly but worth it.

I am a freshmen and am just entering the fall-winter season. I have yet to fully have the winter weather experience. I usually do not have a problem with cold weather so I am not expecting any real difficulties.

It really depends upon what major you are in, how easy it is to get a scholarship. If you find yourself without one, you can go to the financial aid office to see if there are any available. If there are some, you will get one. If not, you can be put on a waiting list in case any aid frees up (like if someone drops out mid-semester)
That office is good for just regular financial aid advice too. They are all too willing to write down a ton of information to help you.
Sorry, there are no reviews.
