The housing is pretty terrible. The RA's do nothing about noise. We have very loud people living under us and they do nothing about it. The rooms are also not that great. The building itself has a stink bug problem at the moment and a water leak. I also do not get along with my roommates and would love to get my own apartment somewhere off campus.

There are a lot of chain restaurants and nothing that special unless you travel at least 15 minuets toward Pittsburgh.

The food here is pretty good. There really isnt that much of a selection though.

Campus really isnt strict about anything. Everything is pretty free flowing. The people that live under me constantly play their music so loud that it shakes our couch and no one does anything about it.

The athletics at school are great. The teams are made up of people who love to play their game.

The appartments at school are perfect for new freshman or students who dont have a home. Rent is about average and payment plans are available.

Guys & Girls:
There are so many different kinds of people at school. I love it. It gives me a chance to talk about any and everything. No matter who someone is you can find something you have in common with them. I was very social and made friends with many different people.

The school allows students to rent computers which I think is great. Not everyone can afford a computer. We also have a great computer lab. Wifi is great.

There is a very wide variety of classes to take. The professors are all great at their jobs and seem to really care. The work is challenging but I learn a lot from all of it. Because of the smaller class sizes most of us can get one on one time with the teachers.

Most students are that I go to school with are there for education and dont have time to get into trouble. Most of us also work around our classes. We get out and have fun every once in a while but for the most part we are strickly business!

Penn State New Kensington forces me to think outside the box with every assignment. Its a constant challenge that makes me look forward to school.

There are foreign exchange programs for kids in different countries. I, myself came from a different state. People were pretty accepting. The school has programs to help students find where they belong on the campus.

The financial aid process went pretty smooth for me.

Guys & Girls:
There are many opportunities and activities for students at Penn State, New Kensington to become social and to meet new people. There is a yearly club fair at the beginning of the fall semester, every club that the school has to offer shares and represents their club. People are very friendly and the school is very willing to do what they can to push the student in the pathway of success. Each Student has an academic adviser who acts as a guide to help the student when scheduling courses and questions that they may have. However, I give the school an "A-" to make up for the small percentage of discrepancy I've encountered with some of the freshman students and the dis-organization from a few professors.

I received a local scholarship and a chancellors scholarship, but still had to take out some loans for second semester

Get Involved!! Our campus has several events each week to help make the students have a better college experience. The students and faculty are so nice and even if you come to an event alone, you will make friends very quickly.

Only Apartments – Most people commute to this campus, therefore there is no need for housing. There are apartments across the street that the landlord rents only to students attending Penn State New Kensington. I toured the apartments ans they are decently priced for what you are receiving.

No Greeks Means No Stress – Since there are no Greek houses, the pressure to party is not there so you can focus on academics.

Most are average, and everyone else is an adut learner.

I Do Not Like It – I honestly feel like this campus is something akin to a community college. While some courses are harder than others most classes are very easy, and I do not fell like they are adequately preparing me for mt transfer to University Park.

Because of the nature of what this campus is nightlife does not exist. The campus is almost all commuters therefore after classes are over so is everything else.

Health & Safety:
Pretty Safe – I honestly feel pretty confident walking on campus everyday that'll be safe. Even as I'm walking from late night shift at the fitness center I really feel safe. No one seems to having any malice within their hearts and it's quite refreshing.

Chemisrty Education – I enjoy my Education class very much. It is a smaller class with a lot of teacher-student interaction. My Education professor is also my Advisor. I went to the local high school on my Christmas break and job shadowed the Chemistry teacher there for a total of 40 hrs. I am pleased with my Chemistry class/professor and enjoy it very much. I look forward to being a high school chemistry teacher. I will be transferring to Penn State main campus for my final 2 years in hopes to find a teaching career locally.
