College Prowler Take
East Halls is not pretty to look at or live in. It has the worst food and the smallest living quarters. But the best part is that thousands of other freshmen are doing the exact same thing you are. Everyone is making the 20-minute trek to class and eating the same cafeteria food. It is the best way to meet other people and make the best out of the situation. West Halls is widely considered the best living are on campus because of its food and proximity to classes. Pollock and South Halls usually feature a nice mix of freshmen, upperclassmen, sororities, and other groups that stick together. Penn State’s campus housing meets the needs of the student body. Many students agree that off-campus housing is the most desirable option. If you plan to make the most out of dorm life, however, upperclassmen have access to the nicest living facilities available.

Considering all the parts of...
Considering all the parts of campus that are constantly being built or remodeled, facilities here vary greatly. Some of the dorms (West and parts of South) are like hotels. Nittany apartments are quite nice, but they’re hard to get into if you aren’t an athlete. Rooms in East, North, Pollock, and parts of South are made of standard concrete block that’s not really big enough for two people to live in. Still, that’s what college is all about. South is full of sororities, East is all freshmen, and West is stereotypicallyanti-social. |

Eh, dorms are dorms. Dorms at PSU are nothing really to rave about, but if you get stuck in East, good luck. |

Dorm life is essential—literally....
Dorm life is essential—literally. You can’t live off-campus the first year of school. East is far, but it’s nice if you want to be around freshmen. North is quiet but small. West is big, has nice food, but is a bit anti-social. South is almost all sororities, but it is close to the frats and downtown. |

North is not as far away from everything as East, but its quiet. They have coed floors. West and South are the most popular because they are closer to the town. |

East is very small, but that’s where all the freshmen live. If you don’t know a lot of people, you will meet kids your age there. West Halls dorms are big and house mostly upperclassmen. Pollock is convenient and houses mainly sophomores and some freshmen. South Halls has lots of honors kids. North Halls has music and arts majors. |
