The school sponsored scholarships like most schools, is very slim.

The biggest (only) real hope is the Bunton Waller scholarship, which has a salary cap. It is also restricted to underrepresented minorities.

It Might Just Be Me

I desperately need financial aide and don't receive any. I also feel that since it is such a large school, scholarships are hard to find.

We Are Sports

At penn state sports are a big deal and that goes for everyone. It is very rare you find a student not involved or interested in any sports at penn state. If we arent playing sports we are watching sports and it is a way of life. Through sports we connect as a university and we carry that strength into everything else we do.

Fantastic Career Network, Student Organizations, THON, Huge Alumni Network

My one piece of advice for incoming students to Penn State is GET INVOLVED! There are over 900 student organizations at Penn State. There is something for everyone. Students at Penn State epitomize the phrase "Work hard, Play hard." Most Penn Staters are very ambitious and have high career aspirations. The career services at Penn State both university wide and within individual colleges does a fantastic job of finding internships and full-time positions for students. Penn State is also home to the largest student-philanthropy in the world: THON. In 2012, Penn State students raised over $10.6 million for pediatric cancer....what other school does that? Answer: NONE.

Lots of Parties

Freshman year: You will have tons of fraternities to go to, or if you are lucky enough to have a friend with an apartment you can go there.

Sophomore and junior year: you will go to tons of apartment parties with free alcohol

Junior/Senior year: To be 21 in State College is great. Tons of bars with really really cheap prices.

The busses make it very convienant to get from downtown to campus and run till 4 am on the weekends.

Fair

Penn state is great school not just because of the fun but it also has a great family atmosphere football really brings the students as well as the rest of the town together.

Penn state security is great they are there whenever you need and they respond quickly.

Lion Cash Is Awesome

Lion cash lets you use your penn state account at normal dining places off campus and there are a lot of different and unique options. On campus food isn't bad either. There are starbucks and peats coffee houses, panda express, sushi, chik fil a, and the dining halls offer a lot of diverse options.

There is even a website, lion menus, that shows you where your lion cash can be spent and often times, using your lion cash gets you savings at places.

Penn State Athletics Can't Be Beat

If there is one thing that describes the athletic scene at Penn State, it's total student involvement. There is nothing that compares to Beaver Stadium and Football; it's an experience like no other. Everyone goes all out for school spirit. Even if you're just playing club sports, Penn State has a great selection and it's a lot of fun

Penn State Has the Best Atmosphere Ever

The atmosphere at Penn State is one of pride and community. There is so much to do here, and it's not just drinking and football games. There are other sports, such as our 2012 Sweet 16 Women's Basketball team, and plenty of free and cheap concerts, comedians, and guest speakers. The restaurants downtown are great, and the nightlife is definitely fantastic. There's just so much to do and see, and so many people here that there is someone and something for everyone.

Students

Not once have a met a student that does not want to talk to you. Everyone at PSU is friendly and wants to help you. When I visited there my first time, I got lost and asked a group of upperclassmen for help. Rather than ignore me, they helped me find the building I was looking for and showed me nothing but respect.

Penn State Strictness

Penn State is known as a party school. The school is pretty lenient because the kids are good with keeping up with their party/academic responsibilities. Ultimately, its up to the student to determine how there going to be socially. The school just want the school to shame the school publicly.

Penn State Computer Labs

There are several places where you can use computers. There are several labs available with computers. There's also bountiful amount of computers in the library. Anytime you need help, whether it be help with citation work or how to use a particular software, the staff is always there's to help you or there's a live chat program on the computer you can refer to which is very helpful.

Freshman Dorms

The dorms at Penn State are great. They are very clean and relatively close to classes or transportation. The internet is very fast as well.

The Atmosphere at Penn State York

The atmosphere at Penn State in general is so lively! The people are so friendly and welcoming. I am going there from Virginia, but it feels just like home. I will be living close by campus which is also close to another university in York which means there are a lot of students that make up the community.

Greek

I want to join Greek life next year. If you want to go Greek Penn state is the place to do it. Greeks alway have something going on in the community.

Great Place to Live

Penn State is a great place with a great atmosphere. The campus generates a huge feeling of belonging, and provides a great sense of community. Also, downtown State College is a great, humble place filled with many small shops and restaurants specific to State College.

Girls and Guys

There is a huge variety of guys and girls on campus. Everything and anything you can think of.

State College Is an Amazing College Experience

It's a college town dedicated to college students.

Lots of Alcohol

Penn State is a big party school. Obviously, alcohol is everywhere. A fair amount of students smoke weed but not really anymore than would be anywhere else. I'm sure there are some hard drugs, particularly in the frats, but I've never seen them. It's also important to note that there are plenty of people who don't drink or smoke on campus as well. Penn State is so big that it has every type of person.

Penn State Security

Penn State is a huge school with thousands of kids. Kids that make questionable choices and never follow rules. The security system is in place to keep us safe, and everyone would be safe if people would be considerate. I personally have never been robbed of frightened of walking the campus alone in the dark. But others I know have had these things happen to them. Overall it is a relatively safe campus, people just need to learn not to let random people into the buildings.

Penn State Shaken

The news has been full of bad happenings at State College, from the criminal activities allegedly committed by Sandusky to the failure of staff to respond. But since the grand jury released it's indictments, the board of directors has been responsive and considerate of student concerns. This is still a strong school and we will weather this saddness.

Awful

Unless you're Asian or Black, you're not getting a scholarship. Even if you are brilliant.

Parking Isn't Good

Get to campus early if you ever need to park, and a student parking pass is over $1,000 per year. Abysmal

Need for Personal Computer

It is absolutely necessary to have your own computer, there is so much work you are expected to do online. It is vital to succeeding at Penn State!
