Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

Few Pepperdine students seem to appreciate fully the fine culinary offerings heaped onto their plates by the good people at Sodexho Marriott Services. This could mean one of two things: either a select few of us have very low standards, or the Pepperdine student body has extraordinarily high ones. Still, it’s certainly safe to say that Pepperdine can number itself among the better-tasting American universities. The basic meal plan is more than sufficient, even for those who just can’t resist getting double heaping portions of the ever-reliable London Broil, or succulent pork tenderloin sliced right before their eyes by the steady hands of the Waves Café personnel. Don’t worry, there are also plenty of vegetarian offerings. The “Caf,” as students always call it, is the main dining area on campus, and it features many very large windows through which to gaze at the blue Pacific while you chomp your way through a delectable meal. Some might express displeasure regarding the dearth of dining halls, but the one Pepperdine does offer leaves little to complain about.

Just around the corner from the Caf, the Oasis serves pizza and made-to-order sandwiches on fresh-baked bread. Most eating takes place at either the Caf or the Oasis, but the little coffee counters on campus offer pre-packaged sandwiches and salads that are really quite good, as far as pre-packaged sandwiches and salads go. On the downside, to eat exclusively at Pepperdine is not an inexpensive endeavor, and the 1,000-point standard meal plan expires at the end of each semester—whether or not you’ve exhausted all your points. In keeping with its Christian mission, however, Pepperdine does give students the option of donating those unused points toward food for the needy.

Pretty Good and Sanitary

The food services at Pepperdine are pretty good. There is the main cafeteria, a Le Brea, Jamba Juice, the HAWC, the law school and graduate school cafeterias for eating. They have a variety of food so that way you do not get bored. Some of the food is really good, like they have the best onion rings and fries!! Other food is not as good. But you can always find something to eat on campus and you can use your meal points at those places and others on campus.

Wonderful, but monotonous.

The food here is pretty high in quality, but the options start to get boring after a while. The best foods? Salad at the salad bar and omelets.
