College Prowler Take
Students almost unanimously identify Pepperdine as inflexible when it comes to enforcing campus rules and regulations. Even things you do off campus can get you in trouble, so you really have to take pains to watch your step wherever you go. Further complicating matters are a few particularly stringent policies, such as the one that prohibits guests of the opposite sex in any dorm room between 1 a.m. and 10 a.m. A uniquely lenient RA may not write you up for such an infraction, but he or she will certainly send the guest packing—even if it’s Mom or Dad stopping by to bring you your favorite pillow at 9 a.m. Also, “quiet hours” extend from 10 p.m. to 10 a.m., which means that if you raise a ruckus, or even a semi-ruckus, during this period, you are likely to get a visit from Public Safety or your RA. Given these restrictions, it’s not hard to understand why on-campus partying does not exactly flourish at Pepperdine. Nevertheless, students also insist that, if you can manage to hide whatever you’re doing from Public Safety and from the watchful eyes of your RA, you can get away with a lot. Some RAs have even been known to party hard with their underage residents. But these wild souls are generally the exception, as the majority of delinquent students have discovered the hard way. Know that if you do get caught, for example drinking in your dorm room, there will be a price to pay. One infraction will put you on academic probation and endanger any scholarships or aid you receive from the University. The freshman class has also been rather successfully cowed by the threat of being banned from international study for this first violation. One or two infractions after that, and you could find yourself in a heap of trouble.

Campus police are very strict. This is no state school. They don’t look the other way. If you’re busted, say bye-bye to Pepperdine. |

You will get kicked out of school...
You will get kicked out of school if you get a DUI, even if you got it off campus. The local police report it back to the campus police! It is a dry campus, but people drink on campus all the time. You just have to be careful. We definitely know how to have a good time here. |
