Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

Reading the disparity of student perceptions of the Pepperdine drug scene tells a lot about drug use on campus. Some have never noticed much of a drug scene at all, while others insist that expensive drugs are “very big” on campus. A logical inference is that whatever serious drugs students snort, swallow, or inhale are being used either off campus, or in an extremely covert manner. If they weren’t, it would not be long before a sharp RA or Public Safety officer would catch the offending students.

Despite the conservative Christian atmosphere and campus regulations, Pepperdine is still college, and many students will still experiment with drugs. But compared to other college campuses, drug use at Pepperdine is minimal. Even the long-haired guy in the beat-up van with Vermont plates and a “Free Tibet” bumper sticker is liable to pass on grass. You just never can tell. And despite the talk about some students using cocaine and other serious drugs, it’s virtually impossible to find yourself in such an environment—unless you intentionally put yourself there.

Drugs and Alcohol

I've never seen or heard of people doing drugs at Pepperdine. Drinking is kind of a given, but Pepperdine is a dry campus so as far as I know no one really brings alcohol onto campus. I feel like Pepperdine has a lot of really good students who know they're limits, know how to be careful and assign a designated driver, and don't brake the rules of not bringing drinks on campus.

Dear Potheads: It Will Take Some Effort Here.

If you're into it, you will always find it and especially if you live in California. However, the school takes very serious measures when it comes to drugs and alcohol...they don't even allow for Hookahs or Shisha's. The only thing you can actually smoke is cigarettes and ONLY in designated areas. Drinking is not very common in campus, you can get into tons of trouble if you get caught drunk or with ANY alcoholic beverages on campus. However, Greek Life always seems to manage to throw their good parties (at their own houses off campus, of course).

Money Talks

You can be at Pepperdine without ever coming across any substances but in the Greek community there are rich kids who have access to expensive drugs.
