College Prowler Take
Public transportation at Pepperdine is about as popular as that high-pitched squirrelly guy on Saved by the Bell. The resounding opinion of Pep students is that the school’s off-campus shuttles are inconvenient and unreliable, and most car-deprived students find themselves stranded far from the convenience of LA’s bus and metro stations. Their resounding advice, therefore, is to bring a car. If that’s just not possible, plan to make friends with vehicle-equipped students as quickly as possible. The drama surrounding Pepperdine’s transportation situation is a bit dramatized. As with parking, getting around is only as much of a problem as you make it out to be. An abundance of California natives with their own cars means that everyone knows someone to bum a ride from. As far as getting yourself to and from the airport, a lot of students rely on the Primetime Shuttles, or “Red Vans.” Yet the Malibu Cab company charges only a few bucks more, and can be for a group of four travelers. Just don’t count exclusively—or much at all, for that matter—on public transportation to get you out and about during your time at Pepperdine.
