The parking isn't terrible. There is a student parking lot and there are species behind and on the side of the Titus building. Be sure to make it to class early to ensure you have a spot.

In the internship that I have done there was no monatary value, but the experlence was wonderful. I love working with the elderly and youth. Their is always something in them two areas. The time was 2 hours 5 days a week at a nursing home. I would read to them walk, with them, basicly let them know they are still important

The campus police is the best, they are very visable so if something happen they are quick to response. In the area their is museums and dinner play houses, where they have excellence plays.

The school is rarely closed because of the weather so if school is open I am here.

Guys & Girls:
It's easy to start a conversation with someody while at Philander. I don't usually see someone dressed inappropriately. Most students are involved in at least one thing.

Health & Safety:
While security is available on campus, you cannot trust them to be there when you need them the most. Their response is a notch below average. Most of the security guards around campus don't look fit to respond if something big was to break out.

The food at Philander Smith College is questionable at best. If you have money, your best option is to order a pizza or go off campus. The dining hall should only be eaten as a last resort. The are making steps, however, to turn the dining hall around in a new direction.

The apartments around Philander Smith College are decent. They're spacious, yet affordable. The only problem is distance. You may have to drive a little bit out of your way and through some tough neighborhoods to get to them.

Since students don't engage in drug activity out in the open, and their are also signs forbidding drugs around campus I'd say Philander is doing a pretty good job with drug safety.

My overall experience on campus is quite so-so I enjoy the events, yet I think the curriculum can be Improved.

The campus does'nt provide tranportation at all so I can only rate it an "F".

Punishment Is Getting Better – Rules and regulations are just not starting to get enforced.

Progress Could Be a Little Less Stressful – Going to the financial aid office is very stressful, either because they do not have an answer for whats going on or they are too nonchalant about financial aid.

The majority of the college students are black but the professors are all sorts of different races. There are students from Ghana and the Bahamas that I have met this year already. Clearly this school recruits heavy in urban areas all over the country because I have met students from Denver, CO, Chicago, IL, Detroit, MI, St.Louis, MO, Los Angeles, California and so on.

Right Next to Downtown – The campus is literally walking distance from downtown. There are plenty of things to do downtown especially since Bill Clinton is from here. There is a Presidental Library here for him and plenty of gift shops. The Parks here are taken care of very well too. The city is also located next to the Arkansas River which is a major tributary to the Mississippi River.
College Junior 2012-08-23T05:26:42Z
Computer Labs – The computer labs are always available. The technology is fairly new and its extremely easy to get online. The entire campus is wireless and its not slow. Printing on campus for students is free which is really a blessing in college. Personal computers are nice to have, especially for entertainment, but I haven't needed to use mine yet.

The only advice I can give is to do your FAFSA as early as possible and to call and ask questions if you ever need any help. The university/colleges tend to be more helpful when dealing with financial aid than calling the people who actually run it.
College Junior 2012-08-23T05:14:41Z
Dining Options – There is a new dining hall being built, so for now the cafeteria is in the campus' second gym. When it comes to options on what to eat, it's a buffet style, so there is plenty to choose from. There are no restaurants on campus, however located just two blocks from campus are many different fast food restaurants. This is an HBCU so the food tends to cater towards that demographic. I like the fact that the food always fills me up and if I don't like what they are serving that day, then I can simply take a short walk to get what I'm in the mood for. I gave it a B because although I do like the food, I wish it was a little healthier.

There is not a lot of transportation that the school will provide. The only time transportation is provided is for special events. All other needs you kind have to get their on your own.

Guys & Girls:
Girls on Campus – There are a lot of friendly female girls on campus. There a lot of beautiful woman however it's hard to find someone that is on the same page as you exspecally if your a christian.

There don't seem to be a lot of scholarships at Philander Smith College. Philander is begining to be more and more costly and a lot of students don't recieve enough funds through financial aid and etc.
Sorry, there are no reviews.
