Pickens Technical College in Aurora, Co. Operates under the Aurora Public School system and allows both Secondary and Post Secondary students to attend together. By doing this it reduces the costs that have to be paid, without giving up any of the expertise of the instructors. Recently five Pickens Tech Students attended the National Skills USA contest in Kansas City Mo with one of the secondary students taking third place.

This school is a bit of a drive for me. That has been the biggest struggle for me. I'm starting the nursing program which requires a competitive application process.

It's a school that offers students programs that can usually be done in less than a year. Therefore students can get education and jobs much quicker. Cost of school is reasonable and many times they offer help with job placement.

The only online in the Power Sports Technology class is the online exams from the assigned reading.

Since Pickens is part of Aurora Public Schools and is a combination of secondary and post secondary students there are really no activities with the exception of the Skills USA membership.

Tuition & Financial Aid:
It's very reasonable, compared to other schools, but they need to work to offer students who qualify for federal aide more on federal grants, scholarships for students. I don't think they have the Colorado opportunity fund.

They help you make a job porfolio and offer job placement.

It's a small school, so there are no student activities, but there is a bookstore/convenience store, cafeteria, credit union (available to students), small library with computers, printer, and counselors.

Printing is limited to only 5 pages a day, then 10 cents a page. I don't really think they should charge us because are getting charged fees, this should be included. Computers are really slow and need to be updated. There is no wifi available.

I'm a nursing major, and everything I will be doing as a nurse applies to this program. The instructors are excellent and offer extra help, if needed. They don't just send you on your way to fail. Everything we learn, we also talk about, so the information stays in your mind. It is very challening, but possible, if you just put in the hard work.

Tuition & Financial Aid:
I feel the education being received is well worth the cost. As one of a few that offer Power Sports Technology the school outranks many that deal in the same type of training for a 1/3 of the cost. There is excellent security and a diverse background. As part of Aurora Public School Pickens is n excellent value with excellent instructors and labs available.

There is a great deal of diversity at this college and is working towards attracting more mature adult learners.

I'm studying for a veterinary assistant and my class is not at all what I expected. I was unaware that there would be actual animals in the class and the teacher is not the best teacher to get along with.

Pickens is unique in that it caters to high school as well as older adults continuing their education. The program I participate in finds many adults with families and jobs as well as taking the classes necessary to complete our degree.
College Senior 2012-10-11T01:45:14Z
I chose Pickens because it was the most reasonably priced of the other schools offering the same program. The instructors are professional and are truly concerned about our success.
