El Cid

This venue is famous for its flamenco shows. With a spicy Latin influence, this is a likely crowd-pleaser. This is a club/restaurant/bar all in one. It’s in Hollywood and is famous for being one of the first soundstages in the area. Flamenco shows can sell out, so don’t just show up. Tickets vary between $25 and $35, but these prices include a full dinner. There is free parking behind the venue.

Tigerheat

Tiger Heat is a great place for those who are not of age to get into the other LA clubs. Every Thursday night, there is a party that runs from 9:30 p.m. to 3 a.m., and anyone ages 18 and up is welcome. The DJ spins music ranging from Top 40 to various hip-hop mixes, and the club is a nice getaway from Claremont nightlife.

Barcopa

This club is not well marked, as it has no sign. DJs spin hip-hop and soul amidst a laid-back and dimly-lit atmosphere. Most of the furniture looks expensive and modern, and it all takes on a dark hue. If you have a lot of people, you can call ahead and get a table. There is free parking available. If you like lounge clubs, this might be for you.

The Conga Room

This club, which is co-owned by Jennifer Lopez, is another salsa hot spot. The Conga Room features live music, good eats, and drinks. If you don’t know how to salsa, it is no problem. Who knows—you might meet a nice person to learn with! Dress up—no tees and jeans. Valet parking is available.

Pete’s Café and Bar

During the day, this place is packed with suits on lunch breaks. At night, it’s a place to get drinks and food with friends. It’s nice for the designated driver because it’s not just about drinking. It's a nice place, decorated well, and has a nice wait staff. Dress as you like, but remember—don’t come here if you want to go wild. There is parking available for a fee.

Tequila Hoppers

This is the closest thing to off-campus nightlife without heading toward LA. They offer nightly specials, with cheap drinks and a party atmosphere. It can get wild depending on the night, so come prepared. Usually, students make a unified pilgrimage a few times a semester. There are specials every night of the week.

Joe Jost’s

This is just a standard bar. Joe’s offers a pool table and serves pickled eggs. If you are out at the beach and looking for a pit stop, you can check this place out. It closes at 11 p.m., so don’t make this your destination for the night.

Black Watch Pub

This is the epitome of local bars for Claremont students. Sometimes there is live music—on occasion even a band from Pitzer will play there. The previously infamous jam band Evergreen Playground played a gig or two here. Since then, they’ve graduated from Pitzer, leaving behind only their wonderful legacy and a connection between Pitzer students and the Black Watch. Come on Thursdays ("College Student Night") and let the good times roll.

The Hip Kitty

This is a great place for music, and it also has fondue!

Whiskey a Go Go

This is a great place to go if you’re under 21. There is live music, and if you’re going with someone over 21, they do serve alcohol. It’s a world-famous music venue and regularly has great shows. Parking is available behind the theater.

The Roxy

Similar to the Whiskey a Go Go, this place has excellent live music. If you’re looking for a great night of live entertainment, check out who’s playing. They usually have some good shows. There is parking available.

The Cheesecake Factory

This place is great for dinner and dessert, and if you are going to Pasadena for the night, it can be a great place to start the evening. It is crowded and noisy, but with more than 200 menu selections and 50 types of cheesecake, this place is a must-try. It is more of a restaurant than a bar, but there’s no better place for desserts. If you don’t like cheesecake, you might consider going somewhere else. Parking is available.
