The vast majority of Pitzer students remains on campus during its four years of college, but there are still many students who choose to live off campus. While freshmen are required to live on campus, sophomores, juniors, and seniors may live in an apartment or house near campus. Many students enjoy the freedom that living on their own brings, and it can also be a cheaper option for those who do not wish to pay the somewhat steep prices for on-campus housing. There are a number of places to live off campus, and most students find the availability relieving. One of the downsides to living off campus is the social aspect. While the freedom is enticing, it is often difficult to come back to campus after having a more realistic view of housing life. Many students who live off campus make their way back to campus infrequently and are hardly ever seen by students who live on campus. The parties and other campus events are not as glamorous as off-campus life, so choosing to live off campus is a big decision to make in respect to your overall college experience.
As of the 2011-2012 school year, Pitzer offers housing at College Park, an apartment complex only minutes from campus. Students have access to the pool, spa, fitness and aerobics center, barbecues, and even an inside movie facility. The College stocks the apartments with various amenities, including beds, dressers, desks, chairs, and dining tables with chairs. The College also pays all utilities, including gas, electric, and Internet access. This housing option is the same price as living in a double room on campus, so many students take advantage of it. Take into consideration, however, that College Park is also full of families, so partying may be a little more difficult.

Meh It Could Be Better
The main off campus housing is College Park. It's too far away and it's full of old people so your college life is drastically dampened. Instead of campus security you have to deal with police.

Times Are Changing
When I initially attended Pitzer (2002-2005) off-campus housing was limited and very costly. As a working student on financial aid, I could never afford to live off campus as student aid covers on campus housing much more generously. However, upon my return to Pitzer (Spring 2011), I was pleased to discover that several new apartment complexes had been built in the surrounding area and seemed to be marketing to students. However, I don't have any personal experience with these new housing options, so I'm afraid I can't be of much help on this topic.
