Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

Parking at Pitzer is a relatively simple issue. Permits are not difficult to come by, and students don't seem to mind the price. There are two parking lots on Pitzer's campus, and they are almost never filled to capacity, so finding a spot is not a problem (except during big events such as Family Weekend). The privilege of bringing cars to campus is limited to juniors and seniors while some campus construction continues, but more parking lots will be built in order to accommodate more cars in the future.

Parking permits cost $35 for students who live on campus and $20 for students who live off campus. Ticketing is not a big problem at Pitzer, but students should make sure to stay away from reserved parking spots and handicapped parking spots. Also, Pitzer students can only register their cars for parking on Pitzer's campus; parking at  one of the other five Claremont Colleges is not allowed. Other than that, students are happy with the parking at Pitzer, and no one makes a big fuss about it.

Minimal

Only upperclassmen are allowed to have cars on campus. With that in mind, there is plenty of parking. However, there are only two lots near the dorms and they often get pretty crowded.

Super Easy

Parking is great - it's super cheap (I think mine was $40 for the whole year!) and campus safety is pretty chill. Having a car is definitely preferred though.

Getting a Parking Permit

The process of getting a parking permit is very simple. All you need is to present your driver's license and your car's registration to Campus Safety, and you will receive a permit. Only juniors and seniors are allowed to get parking permits, but freshmen and sophomores may get them if they have a legitimate reason that is approved by the College.

Did You Know?
  • You cannot park your car overnight on the streets of Claremont—expect a ticket if you do!
  • Your car is ONLY registered for Pitzer College; don't make a mistake and park in one of the other college's parking lots.
