College Prowler Take

Pomona security officers are generally laid-back, eager to help, and loathe to make your, and thus their, lives more difficult. They are far more likely to warn you than cite you for most minor infractions. Most of them want to be your friend, and it’s hard to be friends with someone who’s all up in your bidness! One particularly gregarious guard even used to lead rap freestyles at parties.

Pomona is a safe campus; there are hardly ever any incidents (except for bike theft—no one knows who steals all the bikes, but whoever it is must have a garage the size of an airplane hangar to hold all the spare parts they’ve accumulated), and when there are incidents, the security officers usually respond promptly and professionally. Sometimes, the administration does get a little too concerned with currying student favor to perform their duties to the fullest. Student escorts are available for those who don’t wish to travel the campus alone at night, and cab rides home from the surrounding area for drunk students are free with a college ID.

Security seems fine on campus. I never really felt in danger or anything like that, but the campus is often times pretty desolate because of the small student body.

As far as physical safety, it’s perfectly fine unless you’re a sheltered suburban kid who can’t deal with a couple of lost, stammering homeless dudes who get escorted off campus by security after being there for less than a minute. There is a lot of computer theft, though.
