The sports teams here at PSU seem to all do very well, I do not go to any of the events but it does look like there is a big following of fans.

Health & Safety:
Personally I have always felt safe on campus, but PSU has had some hard times such as women getting assaulted and a few bomb threats. It is just a sad world that we live in, and these things unfortunately happen from time to time.

I would love to have an internship and think that they are an imperative part for entering into the workforce. I do not think that I will have problems trying to find an internship, I am more concerned if it is work that I will enjoy since I have no experience in my field.

On campus I have never seen drugs while walking to class. I have seen a few students drink but there is nothing out of hand.

I love my program purely because I love European History and Politics. I would definitely do it over again but wish the italian department was a bit bigger. I would love to work with NATO or the EU or World Bank or IMF, or for my own country. I mostly just want a career where I can use both of my languages and my international business and relations backgrounds.

Because this school is downtown, there is limited parking and what is available is outrageously priced. Also make sure to arrive with plenty of time, I have circled around campus for 30-40 minutes trying to find a place to park.

I don't know about the school athletics. I have heard about the underperforming football team and how they were giving tickets away for free to get more students to go!

I am a transfer student (which there are many) studying Architecture at PSU and have loved so far. The teachers are very friendly and responsive. It is a big enough college to have good resources but small enough to where you recognize fellow students and staff. Very great reviews at midterm and end of term with advice and suggestions to carry forward with. I'm hoping that this school will help me network and find a job in the near future.

I am at PSU for Architecture. So far my experience has been great. Faculty are very involved and we talk to each other on a first name basis. My only problem with it is the fact that they do not include teaching computer skills that we are required to know upon going into the field. We are expected to learn these things on our own. Also, they grade (design studios at least) based on your individual performance throughout the term which is quite subjective. Where you may think you made better work than a classmate you can end up with the same exact grade.

There is a wonderful amount of live music and performances, art galleries, and fun events. Unfortunately as a working student who doesn't have a car it is not always easy to find the time to go to all of these events! There is great public transportation and easy to join hourly car rental services. A good everyday way to enjoy yourself is by eating out. There is wonderful food in and around campus that is reasonably priced. Also, the Museum of Art is just a few blocks away. Students pay $15 for an entire year membership! Portland is an awesome city! Outside of Portland there is plentiful adventuring and camping to be had. Wish the PSU less of a "commuter" feeling and more of a traditional University vibe. Maybe that's just me though.

I don't pay attention to them, but other people seem very interested!

I don't live on campus, but it seems like it is strict.

Students and campus are clean for the most part. But this is downtown.

Downtown portland has a pretty good nightlife. There are some nice bars right on campus as well.

There is a reason a lot of people come to this school.

I got lucky and received an out-of-state scholarship by applying for it in the application, and there was no essay needed. This runs out in 4years which isn't likely in my situation as I need one more year. Although it is free money, however, it doesn't allow you to sign up for residency if I wanted to take an extra year in order to graduate. There is a main scholarship program that you have to sign up for every year and is open to all students. Making appointments with your advisor should help you stay on track.

Parking is expensive. Signing up for permits is the way to go but is problematic at time because it looks like PSU transportation services gives out more than there is for alloted spaces. Plan to get early sometimes as the best parking spots can run out quickly. There is a free parking area on the hill, however, its on a HILL.. If you can get over that then its not so bad.

Portland State prides it self on sustainable buildings and gathering spaces. It is nestled in the downtown area of Portland, Oregon making it an integral part of the downtown fabric. Most of the campus is located near the South Park Blocks which is a long park filled with trees. Its athletic center has just been renovated so has many of the other buildings by local architecture firms. Campus housing is located nearby to most of the main buildings. There is a small amount of Greek fraternities and sororities on campus. Tons of organizations. If you live on campus though the closest grocery store is a Safeway. Lots of food places to go and a car isn't necessary because there is an easy access to the MAX and Streetcar (which is now free for students). You also have access to museums and other parks in the surrounding area.

I love the campus buildings, parks, library, and places surrounding. It's very artistic and accepting of everyone. It's inspiring which is much appreciated for students who are very tired sometimes and need motivation.

The registration process is always difficult for me. There's so many people with questions about their classes. And for some reason there's always a hold up on my accounts and I have to stand in lines everywhere to get them lifted so I can register. All this late registration sometimes leads to switching classes because the schedules don't work now and I have re-register to different times. It's so hectic and confusing everytime.

It's pretty good. I understand the curriculum process of my major. It all is sequentially making sense. I feel very affirmed after taking classes in my major.

Portland is a place with lots of food carts. These options are pretty cheap and some carts are pretty good. You can get thai food, good thai food, made quickly before you for maybe 5 dollars! The food is quick and cheap and surprisingly good. There are also cafes very close and a sit down cafe with nice food that is a little more costly but worth the food. There's fast food nearby. Really anything. Markets close by and sometimes a farmers market right on campus for fresh vegetables, fruit, jam, cheese, coffee, etc.

The students at this school are remarkable. I think it's because the city itself is such an interesting place of unique people. Everyone is friendly and helpful. I think the atmosphere of this campus is solely a huge, helpful component of this school. The buildings, the park blocks, the activities are all inspiring. You want to do well, and I find it all very enjoyable.

Portland is a very large city with many different activities to do. There are great restaurants, many job opportunities and many fun activities.

Just like most schools, the staff and professors are more than willing to help anyway that they can. They are devoted to their students and take their job seriously.
Sorry, there are no reviews.
