Guys & Girls:
Portland State has very wide range of ethnicity. We have people from all around the country and world. The style ranges from hipster to jock. Everyone has their own style and its very different from all the other cities in the US. Portland is so different we have our on TV show, Portlandia.

I am attending Portland State, and I've been very satisfied with my education thus far. I'm a Architecturet major, and all of my professors have been out in the field and are very accomplished in the industry. I've had some of the best instructors who know a lot of important people. If you get to know them on a personal level, they can do wonders for you when it comes to networking or getting a job.

The night life here is alright, the city dies pretty early so there isnt much to do after a certain hour

I came to Portland State because they have a great Architecture program and the teachers are great and the class size are perfect for me to learn.

Most people seem pretty happy with the Athletic programs. Though, I have heard our teams aren't very good.

Portland State has multiple bus and max stops around campus. It only costs 5 dollars for an all day pass that is accepted everywhere in Portland. The Max runs frequently and it is pretty easy to make it to your bus on time so long as there are no delays or technical issues.

Health & Safety:
Security will walk you to your car, I have lost my wallet several times and have found it at the lost and found! Teachers are really flexible with sickness, and encourage everyone to stay home to prevent spreading diseases.

Updated facilities, accessible libraries, lots of hangouts around campus! (Cheerful Tortoise, Starbucks, Restaurants, Rogue brewery)

You get to ride the Streetcar for free and that takes you to a few places but its not that useful. there are many areas the streetcar doesn't cover so you have to walk there but most people don't even ride it because everything you need is within walking distance.

You can find anything you want around campus. if you don't have much money, there're multiple inexpensive restaurants around.

The student life on campus is nice there's a lot to do like for example rec center, lots of food carts, stores to go hang out or shop on your free time, and the waterfront or just walk around town enjoying the scenery and view.

Portland is a rain-city It rains a lot, but I have no problem with rain, so I would say the weather is pretty fun, and enjoyable during summer - yes it is hot in the summer time (although the weather might surprise sometimes when it rains in the summer)

Since I have been in PSU for the past five years, I have never since a drug or alcohol visible. I have not been pressured to drink or use either alcohol or drug. and policy in both of them are very well enforced as far as I know.
Note: this is just my experience for more information, look into other people's experience as well and make up your mind based on that.

There is a lot of space for parking, but sometimes of the day it is never enough space, also the parking cots lots of money for students. Also there's rental cars like zipcars on campus for student's use.

Getting into the Post-Bac program was no problem, but the Graduate program for Speech and Hearing is extremely competitive. It is very important to have a good GPA and GRE scores, great letters or recommendation, and an excellent letter of intent. Involvement in the student association, making yourself known to faculty and standing out in class (in a good way), and time spent observing or volunteering with SLPS or special educators is also highly looked on. The application process is done through an online third party which handles Graduate applications for Speech and Hearing programs for a number of universities around the US. It makes it a little more difficult because you have to be in contact with both this organization and with admissions at PSU.

hanging out with friends are fun, many are old though

Portland has fantastic public transportation, including lot's of bus lines, the max train, and a zip car. Students get major discounts! Everything on campus is in walking distance, as the campus is downtown. Parking for cars can be a bit of a pain, but I have never had a problem parking in a parking garage. Bikes are a big thing here too, so we have a lot of accommodations for them as well.

There are plenty of dining options around campus of all types and costs. Foodcarts are cheap, offer a wide variety of food, and are all over the place. Fast Food restaurants are plentiful as well, as are diners, bars, grills, and other sit down restaurants. Prices very, but PSU is constantly offering coupons for students and many places will knock off a lot of money if you are enrolled as a student. You can pretty much walk in any direction, pick up a rock and throw it-I guarantee it;ll hit some place new for you to eat at!

Portland is a huge city and there is always something to do. Be it cosmic mini golf, vegan restaurants and food carts, the Oregon Zoo, Ground Kontrol arcade, cafes to study in, or for the older audiences, a bar on every street! There are also a number of museums and Hookah bars to visit.
College Sophomore 2013-02-02T01:01:06Z
The diversity of Portland is great in itself, but Portland State offers something else. The amount of different clubs with ethnicity, sexuality, religion, extracurricular interest, and everything else is as diverse as people themselves are. Freshman are mixed together in diverse floors, with international students being involved with all of the other students. There is something for everyone and everything is very inclusive, be it the Korean Thanksgiving for the campus or tango dancing for the whole school.
Sorry, there are no reviews.
