Marijuana Use Big in All of Portland – Marijuana use is a huge thing in the entire Portland Metro area. While drinking is also present, I think pot smoking is the biggest illegal substance scene in the area. This isn't limited to PSU, nor does it necessarily have anything to do with PSU or students at PSU. It's just something that is very common in this city.

Student Life is great, especially if your surrounded by the nature of the campus. It is fun, relaxing, and a comfortable atmosphere. However, I am giving it a B because there are some incidents the happen around campus, especially since the campus is located in downtown Portland. The library is nice. It is 5 stories high, and one time in finals week of spring term, the library was open for 24 hours. Most importantly, the best part about campus is it is mostly diverse, so it is a great opportunity to mean some people from different countries or different races/ethnicity.

No regrets about my choice. The professors all love the field and try to engage and reach out to students. The job scene hasn't been so great traditionally, but it's opening up and the department has resources to place you in entry-level jobs or internships related to your studies

It's the Pacific Northwest – Bring your rain gear. That being said it doesn't rain every day, the temperature stays pretty moderate, and those clear, sunny days we get occassionally are well worth the wait.

Unique Environment – The urban campus, small class sizes, and professors who actually care about you succeeding in life make this a painless educational experience.

Don't Do Something Stupid....Caz You'll Always Get Caught! The security is pretty decent on campus. Lately they've had officers station around every corner; which during my first term, they didn't have as much. They've been looking out for offenders and trying to keep the campus as safe as possible these days. The campus, along with it's security has even issued out emails giving the description of multiple offenders, so yes if you commit a ridicule crime not only will the police know your description the whole student body will! And getting caught can take a tolnot only on your academic progress, but on your life!

Somewhat Hard! Since I'm going into a Biochem major, before enrolling into my class, I had to take online class entrance exams (they weren't deadly, so don't worry) for my science and math classes. I'd say review a little for the math exams....I forgot a few things xD...but still managed to pass with an 87%...yay! The math exams pretty long, but overall not that bad! The science ones I found to be easy. Along with this, the most important criterion for admission into the class was that you were able to pass your basic high school science and math courses. Other than that, everything else was decent and I was placed in the courses I needed.

Pretty Good (Haha!....Wayyyy Better Than the Highschool Cafeteria) – The food establishment around the campus are diverse. They range from hamburger joints, to pizza places, to Chinese restaurants, to sushi places, and even Greek cuisine. My campus is truly diverse in many ways, which I feel is a great quality it embodies. The menus are easy to understand....heck they're even displayed on flat screen TV's! The prices are pretty reasonable too. A full meal (ex: burger (with any topping),fries, soda) can cost as little as 5 bucks! And there's a food place around every corner so you'll never get hungry...haha! Especially Starbucks....there's literally 2 on every street! As for flex dollars...the cards can definitely be used to pay for your lunches....I don't really use mine often tho, mostly cash. over ally all, the campus dining is very good!!!

Overall, the use of computers is very helpful on campus. All you need to log on to your computer is your ODIN account (name and password). Also, you will have your own H: drive in all the computers on campus where you can save files on the H: drive and never lose it. It's like a flash drive given to you already where you don't need to bring it around.

Overall, Portland State University is a great school to attend and it should be an A grade school. However, I gave this grade a B since there are some incidents that happen around campus, mostly because PSU is in the center of downtown Portland. Commuting to PSU is really helpful, because PSU offers MAX train rides to commuters who live outside the PSU campus and downtown Portland. The environment in campus is really relaxing since PSU is surrounded by trees and nature that surrounds the campus.

Varsity sports in PSU are not that popular in campus, however, students and people around the community attend the games. However, PSU has a lot of school spirit to show how much we love our university.

Rain, Rain, Rain.... Did I Mention Rain? Honestly, most people hate the rain here, but i like it. Only reason I didn't fail this one. Otherwise, landscape is beautiful, natural, and quite serene.

Honestly Not That Bad. Whenever I had trouble, there was always a place to go for help, or just a multitude of places to study instead. Always never had trouble finding information for my classes in the library, computer labs, or even friends too. Professors made it easy to figure things out, but sometimes the grading would be very confusing.

Hippie Culture, Eco Clubs, and General Environmental Awareness. I plan to take more environmental science classes when I return to PSU because i enjoyed the impact they had on the university. It really seems as if they have all their stuff together when they teach, making it easier on the students to act as a sponge when the knowledge is spread out across the table when it comes to classes. Not to mention all the extra-curricular awareness of the environment, just a big plus in my opinion.

Public transportation in Portland is easy, but the rates are going up again!

I don't know if drugs are popular on campus because I never see any indication of them

It rains as a constant, but every once and a while we get a clear day and everyone takes advantage.

A Few Hiccups, but Good – I really enjoyed PSU -the classes are reasonably sized, the professors are generally pretty good, and it's convenient if you need to work while you go to school. Plus, the capstone projects are really fun.

Public Transit Is the Way to Go – Parking isn't great because it's in the city. However, you get a good deal on a trimet sticker, or you can ride your bike.

Not Just a Diploma – Portland State really wants you to excell at life, not just in the classroom. They have excellent work study and job placement programs, as well as requiring all undergraduate seniors to complete a community service project, and requiring all students to pursue interests outside of their chosen degree program. They want their students to excell academically, to be well-rounded and integral members of the community, and to be able to use their degree when they graduate.

Health & Safety:
Hard to Gauge – I have never felt unsafe on campus. However, Portland State is unique in that it has a completely open, "urban" campus that is fully integrated into downtown Portland. The campus is part of the city, but the same thing that makes it unique leaves it open to safety problems that other schools don't have to worry about. So far I love the campus the feel completely safe there.

3 Main garages provide good centrally located parking. However, if you're willing to walk a few extra blocks to save some money, city lots in the area are cheaper-not by much, but if you end up driving a lot it adds up.

Alright, Just the Same – We have options like sushi, pizza, subway and other options, but it just gets old after a while.

We have an array of food carts. Also, Saturday Market, the Farmers Market on Wednesdays in the Park Blocks, many coffee shops and local restaurants everywhere. We're located in the heart of Portland.

Smoking Is Where It's at – Alcohol doesn't seem to be that big of a deal. But smoking is where it's at. We're located in the heart of Portland, who would expect anything less?
Sorry, there are no reviews.
