Mac or PC, Your Choice! We recently just got a slew of Mac Computers in the computer labs, so now you have the choice of PC or Mac. The wireless access is amazing. I live right next to campus but not techniqually on it, and can still access their wi-fi using my student account. There are multiple printing labs on campus are you given 500 printing jobs per term! No need to have your own printer, or really computer. There is a 24 hour computer lab, and you can rent laptops at the library just using your student ID.

No Peer Pressure, the Drugs Are Only There If You Go Out and Look for Them. Because Portland State is not full of parties on campus it is not like there are drugs everywhere. Campus Security is patrolling at all hours and it is a very safe community. The most you will see is a bunch of Freshman attempting to sit outside of the campus bar and they are not visibly drinking. Drinking and drugs go on at the dorms but the Campus Security is called by the RA's if there are any questionable noises or activities. Alcohol usage is moderately high, but not visible in the least sense.

Portland State is located right in downtown Portland. There is a car called Cheerful Tortoise on campus that is very popular with all PSU students. A bit of a clique place for the Jocks, but still every fits in. Dollar beer night there is Thursday and is PACKED. The party scene at PSU is not huge, mostly the athletic people throw them, but the MAX will take you to China town in 10 minutes, and there are so many bars there to go to, and you can still walk home in 20 minutes when the MAX doesn't run any longer when Bar Close happens.

Victors Is Not Victorious in Fulfilling the Taste Buds! The dining hall at PSU is called Victor's. The food is not great, but you can use dining dollars at a place in the Smith Building. I would suggest not buying very many meal plans, but buying lots of dining dollars. The food in Smith is Einstein bagels, sushi, salad, soup, pizza, and more. The food that is on campus but not campus owned is very good. We have Hot Lips Pizza, Pizzacato, Cafe Yum, Chipotle, Subway, Rogue Brewery, and a couple of good chinese and thai places. The food carts near campus are the best way to go when on a budget, You can get a full plate of asian food for 5 bucks!

Small School Environment in a Big City – Although PSU is a very large university, academics do not reflect that. Each professor I have had is personable, friendly, and more than willing to develop close relationships with their students. Also, professors are generally experts in their field, and that is definitely reflected in the teaching of courses.

Love It – I feel I have had a great educationa dn I am knowledgeable about the work I do. I am prepare to do my joband move on if needed. If I had to do it again I would do it earlier in life before I had kids to deal with while doing home work a, work only part time. To benefit my family I would like to work for the school district so I would work the same days as my kids are in school.

Intern- Mental Health Intern – I have not had a chance to complete an internship with this college. I did at my community college. It was unpaid and part of the associates program. I really liked the internships because it gave me a look at different jobs in my field. I was also hired on as staff and with more education I have been able to change jobs with in the agency. I would be nice to have a paid internship but being part of the program was great too. I recieved college credit for my work.

Finding housing off campus can be hard because we are located in downtown and most places are highly priced.

Our school has a great social media crew dealing with twitter and facebook. They keep the students up to date. Also, every term they have something they call a tweetup which is a social media event for the students to interact with one another and learn more about the local businesses.

Health & Safety:
Good Counseling and Health – SHAC is a great center for health and counseling. Safe is the campus- due to the CPSO. The campus is very safe for the most part due to all the resources that are offered.

Aesthetically Pleasing – Overall the campus is beautiful, from our student center to the libraries and general campus. Green is what can describe Portland State, everything from aesthetics to even how we go haha
College Senior 2012-06-01T20:30:18Z
Sports Are Low – Our school's team is not too great, the campus is not traditional. The football team is getting better but nothing to get excited for. For the most part school spirit revolves over student groups and what not, the sports do not really play a part.

Friends Are Crucial – At Portland State, it is crucial that you have friends. The night life for the most part can be dead. Not that much parties happen, so you have to get a group of friends to hangout .

Even though I do not like to ride public transportation, I have to say that it is the most effective way to get around downtown, however I choose to drive as i just don't like to be at the mercy of the Max Line where you have to fight all of the people.

A Very Diverse Campus – PSU is a very diverse campus. A day at our school and you would find people from all walks of life...all ages, races, cultures, genders, religions etc.
This is also a very diversified campus in that you will find all economic groups. Young people who enjoy dorm life to older folks who either live close by or commute, as well as folks who pay out of pocket and people who receive Federal funding for their education.
Located in the heart of beautiful downtown Portland, it's beautiful old brick buildings combined with newer additions make it a great place t get your education.
Bicycle friendly, those who prefer not to fight the parking will find Portland State University the perfect school.

I commute to school and ride the MAX transportation system. Its expensive and dirty, and kind of slow. it takes me 1 hour 30 minutes to get to school, and I live about 20 minutes away w/o traffic. If I were to bring my car, however, there is little to no parking, and its also expensive.

Very Diverse – I think there might be an equal number of indian and asian student that attend school here as there are white people. Lots of different cultures represented.

I think PSU is a typical college in that there are great teachers and not so great teachers. I've had my share of both, but overall I think the quality of education is average.

All I know is meth and marijuana are huge in portland, and more policies don't seem to help

PSU actively encourages diversity and tolerance. There are a lot of international students.

Ok but Expensive – There is a variety of on-campus living options at PSU, and many of them are great (and it's nice to be close to classes), but they are all rather expensive.

Personally being a Biology major, the teachers are in their own little world but the opportunities given are magnificent.
College Sophomore 2012-05-10T04:05:16Z
Financial aid for the school gave me a headache. So little scholarships and aid given to such a large student body. It takes hours and hours to fill the scholarship page and in the end, no matter how well it is, you can still end up with nothing.
College Sophomore 2012-05-10T04:03:24Z
Facilities are always busy, which is good meaning that it gets used. I can personally always get more work done in their library than at my house.
Sorry, there are no reviews.
