PSU has a good tutoring department dedicated to helping students out. You have to plan accordingly though because they can get busy and it's not guaranteed they'll have your department at your time. Their writing center is amazing though. They help with a lot as well as correct grammar as they go.
It depends on your department and your experience. I know for the science department, especially for the Geology one, you have to make sure you tell them you want to get paid otherwise you're just a volunteer.
I love my major and would definitely do it again. I want to be a secondary educator so my only concern is finding a job. I took a biology minor though, so that should give me a slight edge later on.
The Earth Science major is the little brother to the Geology major. The only difference is that the course requirements aren't as much. Where Geology majors have this long list of requirements, Earth Science has a shorter list. The down side to that is that it's almost required you take a minor in order to get enough credits to graduate. But a minor adds a roundness to your character so its worth it.
I love the faculty. Were not that big of a department and practically live in the subbasement, but you really get to know the teachers and TA's, so it evens out.
