Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

Recently, Princeton restaurants have started to diversify. Now it is possible to sample a wide variety of ethnic cuisines, whereas four years ago, the selection was limited. New Jersey’s top-rated sushi restaurant, Ajihei, is a two-minute walk from campus. Students have made a cult of Witherspoon Street’s Sakura Express, sending postcards from around the world to the two sushi chefs. Students favor Olives, the takeout Greek deli, and Zorba's, the takeout Greek restaurant. Several mid-range options, such as the popular Italian Teresa’s provide options for nicer nights out. High-end restaurants, including the Ferry House and Mediterra, are popular amongst wealthy “townies” and parents in for the weekend.

For a town its size, Princeton offers dozens of restaurant options. Some restaurants in town are certainly too expensive for a student’s budget, but those restaurants are generally saved for special occasions, such as Parents’ Weekend. If there is a cuisine that is not represented by Princeton’s restaurants, it is easy enough to get on a train and find something in New York.

Ice Cream Great...But Lots of Expensive Places

So many wonderful ice cream options (it's a big deal amongst students which is your favorite place).

If you just need ot grab food, Wawa is the go-to place. Hoagie Haven a bit of a walk but famously awesome.

In general, Princeton has lots of great options if you want to go out for a fancy dinner or get a treat, but not much for cheap food. Only 'fast' food is Subway or Panera. Fortunately most people are on dining plans and only go out for special occasions anyway.

Food for Thought

Hoagie Haven serves the best hoagies this side of paradise, and Princeton students give it due respect. However, if you want to go for pricier options their are restaurants aplenty immediately outlying the campus. Asian and indian food about but there's plenty diversify one's palette.

Off-Campus Dining

Off-Campus dining at Princeton is basically limited to Nassau Street, where there are many, but expensive, restaurants of all types. The most popular off-campus dining would the be Wawa, which is normally filled with students grabbing late-night snacks.

Facts

Did You Know?

With the recent influx of sushi restaurants, there are several “Princeton rolls” and “Tiger rolls” around town.

Some of the town’s seafood restaurants, including the Blue Point Grill, have amazingly fresh fish, thanks to Nassau Street Seafood Market, which purchases its fish at the famous Fulton Fish Market in New York.
