Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

Students cannot elect to live off campus until junior year, so most students grow accustomed to the daily housekeeping service in communal dorm areas, particularly bathrooms and hallways, during their freshman and sophomore years. Because Princeton is such an affluent town, particularly in the areas surrounding the campus, off-campus housing is not financially feasible to the majority of the undergraduate population.

To find an affordable option, students would need access to a car, which is still problematic, because parking near the academic buildings is close to non-existent. Once students find off-campus housing, they would have to install necessary features that are provided in on-campus housing, such as Ethernet, and then they would have to cope with the utter isolation of living off-campus. Basically, it is not worth it.

No one lives off-campus at Princeton, unless for some reason you've been kicked out of campus housing. In that casem there are a number of apartment units nearby, but they are normally somewhat expensive.

There's very few choices for off campus housing, and they are more expensive compared to on- campus housing. Most students live on campus.
