Greek life does not dominate the...

Greek life does not dominate the social scene by any means. It is a great way to meet new people, mingle with other Greeks, and get into or passes for eating clubs. I am personally in a sorority, and I really do enjoy it.

There are buses that can take you to Wal-Mart, Target, the grocery store, the mall, or wherever you need to go to run errands. Also, there is New Jersey Transit to take you to New York City or Philadelphia should you want to go. All in all, it's a great system.

The Greek scene at Princeton is absolutely amazing, and by that I mean basically nonexistent. The school doesn't support them, so they're basically run out of people's dorm rooms. It's a pretty nifty setup.

The drug scene isn't that noticeable. A lot of kids drink, but unless you want to do drugs, you're not going to run into them.

It's very, very lax and sort of ridiculous. Surely, the University knows kids get wasted, but very little is done about it. Princeton in general puts a lot of trust in the students. As long as you're not stupid about it, you can have a party and not get caught.

At Princeton, you find guys and girls from all across the spectrum. There are definitely geeky kids and outgoing kids. Who you hang out with just determines which of the two you see more often. Finding an attractive guy tends to be a problem for girls sometimes.

Bring your own computer—it's just more convenient. There is wireless all over campus, so it's nice to have your own laptop.

The computer network at Princeton is excellent. There are so many computer clusters that students can use that tend to not get crowded. Most students do bring their own laptops, and often they buy them through a program the school sponsors called the Student Computer Initiative.

Diversity does not seem to be a problem here at Princeton. Many students come from different backgrounds and different social statuses, and most seem to get along fine.

I have never felt unsafe on the Princeton campus. I have walked alone numerous times at 4 a.m., and I have seen Public Safety patrolling the campus. I have never had anything stolen. If you make friends with the officers, you will be in great shape.

The campus is ridiculously diverse. There are many racial minorities with large campus organizations and performing arts groups. The campus is mostly Christian, but there are active groups for other religions. The campus is relatively conservative for a college environment, but the tendency is still overall liberal. It is good, however, to have a variety of political perspectives. With regards to sexuality, all types are accepted, and there is a very strong LGBT presence on campus. There is no need to hide anything at Princeton—I've never met anybody who was prejudiced against different sexualities.

Public transportation is totally unnecessary. The two farthest points away on campus are a 15-minute walk apart. If you truly need a ride somewhere on campus, you can call Public Safety. There is a decent transportation system for around town, but nobody really uses it since nobody ever goes into town.

Parking on campus is awful....

Parking on campus is awful. Freshmen and sophomores can't bring cars, which is a pain. There is not much parking in town, and you can only drive through the campus for a half hour at a time. There is a parking lot for upperclassmen, but it is a decent walk away from the main part of campus. However, pretty much everything you need is on campus.

Basically, don't be stupid. If you want to pregame in your room, nobody's going to care. Just don't blast the music ridiculously loud—that's a signal for Public Safety to investigate. As long as you're smart, nobody cares.

The whole campus has wireless Internet. I strongly suggest getting a laptop. It will make your note taking, paper writing, and life in general much easier. The computer labs generally aren't too crowded. I've always found a computer easily when I needed one. Don't worry about bringing a printer because you can print over the network to the cluster printers.

The hard drug scene is definitely not big, but venture to the third floor of Ivy or Terrace and you can find it. Pot is everywhere, most people are just discreet about it if they aren't at Terrace.

It’s all very convenient. New Jersey transit trains stop literally on the edge of the campus. For $16, you can go between Princeton and New York City without using a car.

Parking sucks because there aren’t a lot of places you can park without incurring a $20 fine. There are a few big lots where everyone parks, but these are generally pretty far from the living areas.

The only public transportation I ever took here was the 605 bus, which goes to Wal-Mart. It costs a dollar each way and leaves every hour. Typically, you won’t need public transportation because you won’t go off campus that much. New Jersey Transit has a train that comes to campus. You can get to New York’s Penn Station in a little over an hour. It’s pretty convenient.

Fall at Princeton is the best. The leaves turn lots of beautiful colors, and the air is so crisp. It is great weather for IM sports and sitting in front of the fire at your club.
