Overall ExperienceWhat's This?

Looking back on their time at PC leaves students glowing with fond memories. Most appreciate the stimulating academics and whirlwind social scene that PC offers. While the occasional person complains that it is too much of the same thing, a copious number of students say that they couldn’t imagine being anywhere else, and if they had to do it all over again, they would absolutely make the same choice to come to PC. The overwhelming majority look on their time spent at PC as a phenomenal learning experience that has helped them develop into the intellectually, emotionally, and socially well-rounded beings that they are today.

The brilliance of the education at PC is that it extends itself outside of the classroom. A student's experience at PC can be anything that they want to make it. If you want to focus on academics, you can, and you will find a group of people who feel exactly the same way you do. If you want an education in socializing or just want your college years to be the wild and crazy ones you’ve heard they can be, PC has that, too. Most students come to PC ready to work and ready to have fun—as long as you are open-minded, PC will give you everything you desire.

Gross or Expensive

At PC there are two dining halls, Ray and Alumni. Ray is buffet style with a meal plan, and the quality of food is generally not so great. The variety is okay, but the pasta is overcooked, the meat is always dry, and vegetables are usually soaked in so much butter and oil that they're inedible. Alumni has really good food and a great variety, but everything is overpriced. You have to pay for packets of salad dressing, and they even charge you for an empty cup.

Cold and Wet

Providence is beautiful on warm, clear, sunny days. Unfortunately, we don't get a lot of those here. Most of the time it is so cold I dread having to walk outside to go to class. With New England weather, you never know when it's randomly going to start down-pouring. Most of the year it is dark and gloomy, very depressing.

Only Crowded During Finals Week

There are usually plenty of computers available at the library and a few computer labs on campus too. The only time it's hard to get a computer is during finals week because for some, that is the only week they actually go to the library. Students are given a good amount of printing for "free" (as part of tuition), which lasts most of us through the semester. Wireless connection isn't great. I was never able to connect to the school's wireless and relied on my roommate's router.
