Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

Caucasian and cute is how many at Providence would define the “typical” student. While the campus overall subscribes to a preppy style, there are students who choose to wear things other than Vineyard Vines. Sweats are not at all unusual for 8:30 a.m. classes. There is a significant dearth of males at PC, but the ones who do reside here are good looking, for the most part. Females of the attractive variety are available in abundance. Overall, everyone agrees that PC is a good-looking school, even if the look is slightly repetitive.

While PC may look like a page out of a J.Crew ad, one has to wonder if this conformity goes along with the lack of diversity at PC. Pressure to look, dress, and act a certain way may be an influencing factor in PC’s stunning good looks. Don’t worry if you’re not fashion conscious, you’ll fit in just fine anyway because beauty is accompanied by brains at PC. One disheartening and noticeable trend is the demise of dating. Fewer couples grace the quad, and drunken hookups—commitment-free of course—are in the vanguard.

Cookie Cutter School

At Providence College, everyone dresses the same and even acts the same, for the most part. Every girl has her Northface jacket and Ugg boots, and leggings are everyone's favorite substitute for pants. The guys are a little more varied in what they wear, with some looking more preppy and others more casual. There is a great night life at PC. Students go to bars and parties close to campus, and it's generally acceptable to go out and drink every night except for Sunday and Tuesday. A lot of students are a little stuck-up because they're from rich families and used to being spoiled, but the majority of students are very friendly.

Facts

Social Scene

PC is a hugely social school. With all the outgoing people, it is nearly impossible to walk to class without having a conversation with someone. Many students choose to get involved in at least one of the clubs, sports, or organizations at PC. Intermingling and networking are practically core requirements here at Providence College.

Hookups or Relationships?

Many PC students choose commitment-free hookups on the weekends. Although there are couples at PC, their numbers are diminishing, and dating is suffering a slow, painful death. Many people date outside PC.

Best Places to Meet Guys/Girls

The best place to meet guys and girls if you are looking to hook up is probably at the off-campus bars and clubs. Late-night or ticket parties are also a great option. PC is so outgoing that you can meet people just about anywhere from class, to Raymond Dining Hall, or out on the quad. PC is definitely a preppy school. Polo shirts, button downs, khakis, the whole nine yards. Abercrombie & Fitch, American Eagle, J. Crew all epitomize the PC look. While sweats are okay for early classes, PC students are definitely concerned with what they wear. Jeans and T-shirts are the basic staples. Be prepared to see flip-flops for the greater percentage of the year.

Dress Code

PC is definitely a preppy school. Polo shirts, button downs, khakis, the whole nine yards. Vineyard Vines, J. Crew, and Ralph Lauren all epitomize the PC look. While sweats are okay for early classes, PC students are definitely concerned with what they wear. Jeans and T-shirts are the basic staples, but always find their home in an outfit paired with Tory Burch flats and/or a Longchamp bag for girls, and Rainbows and Sperry Topsiders for guys. Be prepared to see flip-flops for the greater percentage of the year.
