Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

Parking is a serious campus concern. Freshmen and sophomores are not allowed to have cars on campus unless there are extenuating circumstances. For juniors and seniors who bring a car to campus, spots may be hard to come by or require a short hike to the dorm. Security hands out passes on a first-come, first-serve basis, but specific spots aren’t assigned to cars. Parking off campus on the nearby streets can be just as difficult due to no parking zones, specific times for parking, and the local residents. Having a car on campus can end up being more of a hassle than it is worth.

The suites and Fine Arts Center have eliminated the parking field on lower campus. And even though security tickets cars without passes, a plethora of students bring their cars up right before breaks, only exacerbating the dismal situation.

Fair Parking

The parking in Providence College is ok. If you have a car on campus and have a reserved parking spot its great. If you park on the street it can be risky due to tickets.

If you dont have a parking permit, you have to pay a $25 fine. The good thing is that you dont NEED a car to survive at providence. the bus system runs right through the school and is free when we use our PC id's.

Getting a Parking Permit

Upperclassmen get priority for parking permits. Permits are issued on first-come, first-serve basis. Only in extenuating circumstances, such as a medical concern, will freshmen and sophomores be given permits.
