Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

As per a contract with RIPTA, PC students may ride the buses for free with their student ID throughout the state of Rhode Island. There is a bus stop right outside of the campus gates on Huxley Avenue, making RIPTA a convenient mode of transportation. The trolley services are a subsection of RIPTA and are also free. Taking a cab is always convenient with the overwhelming number of companies to choose from. Cabs are a great option if you want to get somewhere without having to worry about schedules. The College also runs shuttles for the neighborhood loop—convenient for bar-hoppers—and provides an East Side shuttle that takes students to Thayer and Wickenden Streets by Brown on Friday and Saturday nights. The Whiskey Shuttle stops at the corner of Huxley Avenue and Eaton Street every Friday and Saturday night to bring students to Whiskey Pub. The train station is just minutes away, as is the bus depot in Kennedy Plaza. Practically every mode of transportation is available, and students unanimously agree on its convenience.

While the RIPTA contract has optimized the shuttle services needed by PC students, the buses sometimes run behind schedule, which can be a hassle. But who can complain when the service is free? During big holidays, such as Thanksgiving and Easter, PC provides transportation to the airport for a nominal fee. Generally, it is fairly easy to get around the neighborhood and city of Providence, thanks to convenient and cheap transportation options.

Buses Are Good

Since the campus is so small it's pretty easy to just walk to everywhere that you need to get to (classes, dorms, gym, etc...). And the public transportation system in Providence is really easy to work as well. As long as you know the schedule you can pretty much do anything you want.

Easy Public Transportation

Public transportation is so easy at PC. The bus stops right at the main gate on campus and takes you anywhere in Providence you need to be. It also stops right in front of the train station which makes it cheep and easy to catch a train to Boston, DC and anywhere in between. Plus, the bus is free with a student ID.
