Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

Students at Purdue feel overwhelmingly safe and secure on campus, thanks to its 200-plus yellow call-boxes, its patrolling police, and its free evening escort service. Residence halls are about as well protected as Fort Knox, requiring IDs and several keyed doors to reach living areas. It appears that the biggest crime at Purdue is petty theft, usually from students leaving residence hall rooms unlocked. As one student states, “Purdue is so safe that it’s almost boring.”

Thanks to the devoted vigilance of the police, students should feel quite safe on campus if they practice common sense. Female students should not walk alone at night, but thanks to the free escort service, there is no need to do so. For those who feel the need for self-defense classes, check with the Purdue Police, the residence halls, and the Recreational Sports Center. There are a variety of programs taught during the year that are free and practical.

Secure and Safe

I never have felt worried about my safety at Purdue, even at 3 oclock in the morning. There are escorts available 24/7 through the purdue police department if you are ever worried. also there are emergency call boxes all through campus. Police seem to patrol all the time too. It truly is a safe campus.

Very Safe and Secure

I feel safe on Purdue's campus. I think the blue boxes that you can press if you feel unsafe and also be able to see police day and night definitely helps. Its a beautiful campus and people can be free to enjoy it without having to worry about their safety or well fare.
