Campus Housing
Living in the dorms on campus can be a blessing and a pain at times. Purdue is one of the few universities that does not require its students to live on campus for its first year or even at all, but if you do there are a few things you should know. One, the differing amount of dining courts and the quality of food on campus make it possible to fight the "getting old dorm food" urge. Second, where you live matters by your major. Since the residence hall living is spread into two general locations, where students of particular majors live is an observed coincidence. Students studying engineering tend to stay in Tarkington, Wiley, Owen, and Cary halls. Whereas, the other residence halls such as Shreve, Earhart, and Harrison, and others tend to have a more varied assortment of students.
