Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

Among high school and college-aged students in the state of Virginia, Radford is known as the school for parties. What the University lacks in organized nightlife, such as bars and clubs, it makes up for with plenty of house parties. Students involved in Greek life or club sports or who live off campus are the ones to know in order to attend a great party. Many parties include music, dancing, and a large amount and variety of alcohol. The parties are usually in basements or in houses somewhat off the main streets to prevent police involvement. Certain organizations will card and require a student ID because they don’t want freeloaders showing up from other schools or the high school in town. Usually, if the party is hosted by a Greek organization, there is a designated driver, as well as several sober monitors to ensure the safety of the students attending the event.

BT’s, Sharky's, and Riley’s are very popular places for the over-21 crowd. Students under 21 can go to The Coffee Mill or Starbucks to chat with friends and spend time with a great cup of coffee and a decent pastry. Radford’s nightlife is more suited for the 21-and-older crowd, but no matter your age, there is always a party to attend.

Great Parties

The parties here are awesome. the farthest you may have to walk is 15 minutes max but the majority of stuff is well under a 10 minute walk, so you dont have to drive or pay for a cab back to campus.

Greek life hosts amazing mixers and parties, often with themes. It’s a great way to meet new people, and even if you don’t drink, there is usually no pressure for you to do so. Parties are a lot of fun, with the biggest parties being thrown during Homecoming and Quadfest, the latter being an unofficial weekend-long party usually held at the end of April.
