Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

Housing around Radford's campus is decent in quality and affordability. There are hundreds of options available from a multitude of realty companies, and many of them are within two or three blocks from campus. There are townhomes, apartments, and houses available in a variety of room combinations. Most off-campus housing ranges from $300 to $400 in rent and around $80 in utilities. The average college student can survive on $150 dollars a month for food, not counting alcohol, so the total cost of living off campus is usually between $700 to $1,000 cheaper then living on campus. The majority of off-campus housing contains laundry facilities, either within the homes or apartments themselves or within the complex, for a fee. All realty companies offer a repair service.

The average off-campus apartment is several years old and thoroughly used, so it is important for students to know the policies of their realtors when it comes to repainting and replacement carpeting prior to the start of the lease. While most student housing is within two or three blocks from the campus, certain apartment complexes are a mile or two away. For students who choose to live in Hunter's Ridge, the RU Tartan Transit is a convenient option for getting to and from campus. The complex has an agreement with the school, so there is no need for students living there to commute.

Just as Expensive

There are plenty of apartments, but they are just as expensive as living in a dorm or an on-campus apartment. I personally, would just rather stay on campus so I wouldn't have to deal with the hassle.
