College Prowler Take

Although Reed may be small, the school’s facilities allow for a wide range of activities. From sports or computing to studying or drinking coffee, Reed offers its students numerous state-of-the-art facilities to accommodate any desire or educational need. Students generally find Reed’s campus to be one of the most well-maintained of any of the schools that they have visited. Thanks to the excellent Physical Plant maintenance and a devoted staff of employees, alongside countless contributions, Reed’s facilities remain top-notch and conducive to any desire a Reedie may possess, be it for good coffee at one of our on-campus coffeehouses or a quick stop in the Sports Center’s dry sauna. Most students appreciate the wide range and availability of campus facilities and attempt to make as much use of them as they can. Although, most Reedies agree that no one here spends a great amount of time in the gym.

In order to fully comprehend the wide variety of facilities and their diverse nature, here is a list of free services that Reed provides to its students and employees: three computer labs that feature updated computers, free sporting equipment for rent at the Sports Center, free pool access for most of the day, a student-run Student Union where both activities and studying can occur, a free pool hall with a jukebox and six large pool tables, a nice arcade with four pinball machines, and a very large, comprehensive library collection. Additionally, any feature missing from campus, like a movie theater or a bowling alley, can be found within minutes from campus.

The facilities are pretty good, I guess. The sports center is clean and open most hours, if a bit crowded during peak hours. The computer center is spacious and always open. Plus, it has a fireplace! I’ve taken my fair share of naps in the ETC building before. The Student Center is there, but no one uses it! I don’t mind because my floor has a good dorm community, and so I don’t need to go out much to meet people. For those who end up somewhere without a good dorm community, though, I’d imagine the lack of a good Student Center would be something of a drawback.

The athletic facilities are top-of-the-line, albeit somewhat under-used by the students. The central dining and campus center building is very nice. There is some rather odd and eclectic decorating at Reed, which could appear sketchy and unprofessional to some people. If you like it, then you’re probably meant to be here.

There are many facilities on campus, but with the exception of the computers, they are not state-of-the-art. The sports center is obviously from another decade, but the offerings for PE are quite varied. The pool hall is always full, but the Student Union is not really used for anything.

The facilities on campus are very nice and well-kept. The athletic facilities are especially nice for a college with so little emphasis on sports. There’s a great weight room, basketball, and racquetball courts, dance studios, a matroom for martial arts, and a swimming pool. Computer User Services has three computer labs full of new Macintoshes.

Everything is nice here. Some people complain, but that’s because they’re spoiled and have never been to an actual college campus where stuff is falling apart and nobody cares.
