Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

A few notes about parking at Reed: parking is free, plentiful, and rarely a concern for students. If you believe that your college decision hinges on parking, then read on; if not, then re-read the first sentence.

Most students find Reed parking rarely frustrating and ever bountiful. Like the Thanksgiving cornucopia, Reed’s parking lots provide a smorgasbord with inviting spots for the cars of all Reed students and employees. Every student has only occasionally had trouble finding a parking spot on campus. Sometimes, they have had to park across the street in the residential zone, but that doesn’t pose a problem since the city does not restrict those spots from Reedies. Furthermore, unlike some other colleges and universities, Reed freshmen can bring their cars and park on campus.

Plenty of Spots

If you got a car you will be praised by those around you. Not many have cars, who live on campus at least. Not many meters around.

The parking scene is like the party scene. There are more parking places than there are on-campus students with cars. If you want hot bumper-to-bumper action, again, this is not the place to come.

Getting a Parking Permit

All parking permits are free for Reed students. To get a parking permit, simply talk to Community Safety at the above number. Although the permit does not cost anything, Reed students must get one before parking on campus or be at risk of receiving a ticket from Community Safety, as non-Reed students and employees are not allowed to park in campus lots.
