College Prowler Take
From Tri-met, which encompasses the busing and light-rail systems, to the taxicab companies, getting around Portland rarely ever seems a hassle. Accordingly, students constantly rave about the Tri-met, finding it to be the perfect solution to not owning a car. Although some students tell horror stories of being stranded in dark corners of Portland in the wee hours of the morning, for a public transportation system, Tri-met provides the Portland area with superb service. Apart from the public transportation system, many top-notch airlines call the Portland International Airport home. Being a rather cosmopolitan city, Portland’s airport provides service to many major United States and some smaller locations that other cities usually do not consider, including Hawaii. In short, although Portland may be small compared to many major cities, students have had no trouble either coming to Portland or, after arrival, journeying around.

Public transportation in Portland is excellent. You can get to the train station, airport, libraries, grocery stores, downtown, and all the communities around Portland by using the Tri-met system, which includes Portland streetcars, a light-rail, and about 80 bus lines. It’s really easy to use, just go to the web site and type Reed’s address and where you want to go, and they’ll find the best route for you. |
