College Prowler Take
The students of RPI are satisfied with the facilities on campus. The Union renovation and the Mueller Center give the students good places to study and relax, as well as work out and burn off some of the stress that can build up from classes. The computer labs and their availability have also scored big with the student body, despite the fact that everyone has a laptop anyway. RPI combines an older-style campus with the most modern technology, making it a perfect marriage of grace and practicality. The athletic facilities are top-notch and provide great equipment to help students stay in shape. The Rensselaer Union provides places for studying and for relaxing, and the dorms are steadily improving with each year. It’s not the nicest college campus by a long shot, but for what it is, it’s not a bad place to spend four years.

Most of the facilities are...
Most of the facilities are 1800s-looking on the outside and modern on the inside, combining the best of the old and the new. For instance, instead of tearing down a church, the campus expanded around it in a stunning twist of irony, and they converted it into a computer lab. The campus can be quite beautiful during the summer, fall, and spring, but during the long winter, it can get pretty dreary. |

The Union at our school was...
The Union at our school was renovated this year and is pretty nice looking. People meet there to hang out or work on projects together. Many student activities take place there, as well. I’d say that most of the athletic facilities are great. The outdoor track couldn’t be much better; the indoor track is kind of crappy for a track athlete, but I guess non-track people seem to like it. The football field is really nice, as are the softball/baseball fields, the hockey rink is nice, and they have free skates, there are decent basketball courts and tennis courts, and several years ago, we had a new fitness center built with exercise rooms (karate, aerobics, and yoga), stair climbers, elliptical machines, treadmills, an entire floor of free weights, and non-free weights. The main floor has a bunch of TVs for people on the treadmill-type machines to watch. I really like the fitness center. |

We have a new, state-of-the-art gymnasium (there are two gyms total), and a new student union. There are computer rooms all over campus where you can plug in your laptop if you have one or use one of the desktops. I believe all of the freshman dorms still have their own computer rooms. |

Athletics are phenomenal....
Athletics are phenomenal. Computers are pretty good, it depends on the building. The student center was just redone, and the buildings are good. Most of them are open all the time, too, so they are really open to the students. |

Facilities are very good. Great computer labs and a new huge gym and fitness center with tons of free weights, machines, bikes, and treadmills. |
FactsWhat To Do on Campus
There’s not a huge variety available on campus. UPAC Cinema shows one or two movies each weekend on campus, and EMPAC has really interesting shows going on every weekend. There is a pub in the Union, which is a great meeting spot for friends, but it is relatively small. The games room of the Union offers pool and table tennis. It depends on what you’re looking to do. For more variety, it is better to wander off campus.
Favorite Things To Do
EMPAC always provides interesting shows, and the movies playing at UPAC are usually pretty good. There are always cultural events going on, including the various groups on campus that often offer free food and fun.
