Average

The city of Troy where RPI is more than less boring with a few fast food places and the normal chain restaurants, with the exception of a new sports bar and grill. Outside of Troy, no more than 15 min away towards U Albany you will find better choices, nicer restaurants etc.

Weather Can Be a Downer

Unfortunately, there's not much to look forward to in terms of weather. The winters are really cold and sometimes the campus will be frozen. It's actually interesting to see everything frozen, but slippery steps are not fun. Expect most of the fall to be pretty dim, but at least the spring brightens things up.

Waste of Time and Money

Only the athletes care about the athletics at a school like this and quite frankly, why should we care? Our only good sports team is the Men's Hockey team. Everything else is a complete waste of money and caters to a very small percentage of the population. Most people on campus think the sports are a waste of time and money and would rather see that money go elsewhere...to things we care about and better represent RPI.
