Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

Alcohol is the most popular drug of choice at Rhodes. This becomes pretty evident come Thursday night, once the frat parties start up for the weekend. Campus Safety and the RAs are mostly concerned with the well-being of the students, but they aren't in a rush to stop a party. If you're under 21, Campus Safety will just ask you to put your drink down and maybe give you a little lecture about safety, not different from the lecture they'd give their own children. You'll get an alcohol violation if you're being belligerent and out of control, but there's nothing to worry about if you're responsible about drinking. Underage students get violations for having alcohol in their room, too.

As for other drugs, some Rhodes students also enjoy their weed, but it's easy to avoid if that's not your thing. Many students aren't into the drugs and alcohol scene, and that is perfectly fine! No one cares whether you drink and smoke or not, and you don't need alcohol to have fun. There are plenty of other things to do on campus, but you'll have to be willing to accept that there will be drunk people outside on Friday nights. That's the case for any college, though. The important point to note is that Rhodes students are respectful of others' lifestyles and accept that it is a personal choice.

Inescapable

It seems like everyone on campus drinks. It's almost even expected. It doesn't help that as long as no one violates the Honor Code, defaces a building, or causes too big of a scene, campus safety will not punish those drinking underage. One good thing about this though is that campus safety is excellent at helping anyone who is too sloshed to function.

Drugs Are Everywhere

The drugs at this school is ridiculous you can smell it in the hallways but most RA's don't know. But when you do, then they will bring it to the dean of the school and they will decide what you do. You would either kicked out or on probation. There is no peer pressue in this school. Most students i have met are above the influence but you have others who aren't.
