College Prowler Take

At Rhodes, parking for students is simple and unproblematic, though open parking spaces are not always as well located as some would like them to be. The campus is small, so driving from class to class is not an issue, but generally no one is happy with the space they get because it’s “too far away” from whatever they’re trying to get to. Besides the likely possibility that driving around for ten minutes trying to find a spot closer to your dorm will be a fruitless endeavor, there really aren’t many other problems with the parking situation at Rhodes. It is wiser to park inside the gates, however, since there have been some reports of break-ins dealing with cars that were parked on the street.

Compared to other colleges’ parking problems (parking lotteries and outrageous fees), Rhodes students have very little to complain about. There’s no cost for a parking decal, freshmen can bring their own cars, and there’s always a spot open somewhere.

Parking is hell; there aren’t enough spaces, and folks who live in Bellingrath have to park on the street, which I’m really uncomfortable with.

Parking is decent in the evenings and on the weekend. During the day, it’s really hard to find a spot, which is why I suggest living on campus.

Parking is not so great. Because you can walk everywhere at Rhodes, parking is located on the outer edges of campus. It’s irritating at times, but what can you do? My advice about parking would be to never park on the street. Always park in the gates—it’s safer.

There’s enough parking for everyone, and on a campus the size of Rhodes, that’s really all that matters. Even if you have to park far away from something, it won’t take you long to walk there.
