Good Process, Nice Endowment

I come from a single-parent lower-middle-class household and am the oldest child. That being said, most people here are from upper-middle-class and higher families. Rice gave me a good financial aid package without which I would not be able to attend. Even so, it is expensive for me to attend and not sure the cost is worth it. The process was fairly complicated but everything worked out in the end.

Pretty Decent

Rice is very helpful in regard to student aid. Just do the CSS Profile and FAFSA. Under $80,000 is pretty much a free ride. After that expenses rise. Financial aid department is very approachable regarding concerns.

Rice Offers Merit Scholarship

Since Rice isn't part of the Ivy League, it is able to offer competitive students merit-based scholarships. There are only a couple, and they are extremely competitive. Even if you don't win one, though, Rice is one of the few universities in the US with the resources to provide all applicants with need-blind financial aid.
