Theater Department

We have a small theater department but that only allows the actors to have even more time with the directors and the feed back is amazing.

Very Typical

Other then the fact that it has the Christian feel it is a pretty normal college, though the costs are pretty high, it is a great place if you are looking to obtain a Biblical degree from a secular accredited school.

Christian Enviroment

Being a Christian prior to beginning school I was able to grow spiritually and was allowed to introduce other students to worship with me at my church home at a nearby congregation. Our experience at our campus chapel also enhanced my spiritual growth.

Traditions
  • Celebration: An annual spring event that is an all-day program featuring student-led music, singing, acting, and dancing.
  • Chapel Service: Less a tradition than an official requirement for traditional undergraduate students, they must participate in weekly chapel/church services as a part of life at Rochester College.
  • Christmas Events: While the campus is officially closed for Christmas break, there are a number of Christmas-season events that take place, including community service projects. See residence hall advisers and other faculty for more details.
  • Halloween Events: There is usually a Halloween party every year on campus. Other events, such as hayrides, may also be planned on a year-by-year basis.
  • Homecoming: Every fall, there is a Homecoming week based around campus sporting events, including a Homecoming Social, where a king and queen are crowned.
  • Student Programs: Every academic year, there is an assortment of student programming events, including voluntary field trips, plays, sporting events, concerts, seminars, and other special events geared toward students.

  • Rochester students have access to select discounted rates for out of town travel via YTB Travel Services.
  • The Associates of Rochester College are the official fundraising arm of the school. As a private institution, fundraising (also called development) is an important component of the subsidizing of Rochester College. Even students can participate as associates.
  • The history of Rochester College dates back to 1954, when members of the Church of Christ formed a committee to eventually create a facility of higher learning in the northern Midwest. The trustees purchased land in Rochester, Michigan, and the school opened in 1959 as North Central Christian College. The name officially changed to Michigan Christian College in 1961, and then Michigan Christian College formally changed its name to Rochester College in 1997.
