Greek life is a tremendous force at Rollins and undoubtedly dominates the social scene. A large percentage of the student body is involved with Greek life, so of course, this group of students commands attention. Most frat and sorority members are extremely loyal to their organizations and consider fellow members to be like family. While this can lead to a lot of inter-fraternity and sorority strife, it does create strong bonds within the organizations.

The social scene on campus revolves around the frat houses. Each house each has a signature party-style and alcohol of choice. Chi Psi mixes up green “hunch punch,” while students gather in the crowded halls to socialize. ATO is famous for creative theme parties, such as Swamp Party, during which the entire house becomes a virtual wilderness. TKE serves creative shots in each room of the party house before students stumble off to other parties. Phi Delta Theta, though their parties are infrequent, specialize in serving “purple Jesus,” a form of purple punch. Along with frat parties on campus, many of the off-campus parties are thrown by Greek life members. Here, the sororities get the chance to host parties and give the new freshmen an idea of what they’re all about. Rush week is exciting, and a lot of students participate. Some students rush that don’t even plan to join a Greek organization, simply because it’s a great way to meet people.

During Greek Week, all the fraternities and sororities compete in daily competitions. These events vary from year to year, but some of the popular ones are boat building, the Olympics, and a game show.
