Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

Since Rollins is such a small campus, students can walk from one end to the other without needing any transportation. This is a great thing, considering Rollins doesn’t have much transportation at all. There are cab services that students can call; however, most of them are extremely slow and poorly run. If you call a cab, you better be prepared to wait a good 25 to 30 minutes for it; plus, they are very expensive, too. There is a train station across the street from campus, and some students take advantage of the train to travel home. However, the train doesn’t stop at every city, and buses are used as connectors, which makes train trips long and confusing. A lot of students have their own cars on campus, which is the best way to go. You rarely see buses around Rollins, and the majority of students has no idea where they run or where the bus stops.

A car is nice to have on campus, if you want to run to the store or go to downtown Orlando. Many students who don’t have cars on campus have friends who they can catch a ride with or borrow a car from if they need to run an errand. For the most part, a car isn’t a necessity at Rollins. Students can find most of what they need right across the street on Park Avenue or in the Rollin’s bookstore or C-Store.

No Need for Transportation

There is no need for transportation within the campus, or even town. Park avenue (main street) is right next to the school and there are great restaurants and shopping places. For long-distance transportation a car is necessary, but most people here have a car, so if you do not you can just get a ride from someone.

Parking Sucks.

Don't even think about parking on campus unless you're a junior. Tickets are $60 and they give them out like candy. You don't need a car to get around campus, you can walk all the way across campus in under 10 minutes. If you want to leave campus, you'll need a car because the lynx buses are sketchy. Rollins has a bus that goes to and from the Winter Park Village where you can see a movie, go to a restaurant, shop, etc. in the evenings on weekends only.

Parking Sucks

It's really hard to get a premo parking spot at Rollins, the parking lots that they have on campus usually fill up really quickly and the parking garage is down Park Avenue (about a 5 minute walk to campus). So if you live off campus and you're trying to decide how to get to class its better to walk.
