Can't really comment on this one, I personally have never had a problem with campus police and I have not stayed in a dorm.

May be just me but diversity has not been an issue and frankly never even though about it. The is a diverse amount of people here but not the focus of discussions.

Have had internet access from just about anywhere (even in the parking lots). The system is almost never down and the internet speed is as good as broadband.

Guys & Girls:
Top notch peers. Everyone is courteous and many go out of their way to help others.

Have not eaten on campus as I am a commuter, have heard that it is quite good and there is a large menu to choose from.
College Sophomore 2013-12-09T19:43:02Z
Parking on campus sucks. End of story. Nobody likes it, it's a big problem for commuter students.

I love the rain, so I don't mind, but most people at Rowan hate the weather. It usually rains about 2-3 times a week regardless of season. Beautiful sunsets though. And the woodsy atmosphere makes it nice to explore when the weather is nice.

Health & Safety:
Rowan is a pretty safe campus. Although the Wellness Center isn't always open, it has good medicine and personable staff workers. Rowan's security officer and police officer presence discourages a lot of reckless activity, it happens but not a lot of fights break out on or off campus. There are a good amount of robberies but that's usually due to people not locking their dorms/being careless. The Drug Scene is pretty real, but only if you're in it, it's completely possible to bypass drugs and alcohol if one so chooses.
College Sophomore 2013-12-09T19:36:55Z
Guys & Girls:
There are a lot of Girls at Rowan. More girls than guys actually. It's a pretty broad range too. There are cute athletes, artsy girls, party girls, hardworking and ambitious girls. Weird girls, girls that are TOO "normal", pretty much something for every taste.

While the food isn't that bad, and there about 5 main food places, availability is extremely aggravating. All meal plan options end everyday, indefinitely from 1am-7am. After 5pm on friday the only healthy/vegetarian/vegan directly on campus and that takes meal plan closes until Monday afternoon. The food in the cafe usually has a variety of cultural meals depending on the day/week/month and sometimes it's really good. Prof's Place which is an overpriced fast food place that sells cheesteaks, burgers, pancakes, subs, cold sandwiches, and the such, but most full meals exceed available meal plan options and often you go over and have to use the boro bucks(monopoly money used around Glassboro) or dining dollars which can be used on campus dining. There a lot of fast food and order out places around Glassboro that take Rowan Card and accept boro bucks.

The campus strictness is very annoying on campus, that kind of just puts a nice fat wet blanket on the Rowan experience sometimes. Police always seems be breaking up parties, even when they're aren't out of hand or very loud. The drug policy is very hypocritical. Drug offenders are usually kicked out of housing, suspended, and academic probation while alcohol offenders have to pay a fine and take a drug class, but rarely lose housing/academic standing. It's so easy to get a parking ticket with without the proper sticker, it's ridiculous. Protests/Demonstrations are literally limited to one area in front of the student center. It's a free speech zone. Anything outside of the patio in front of the student center is in danger of violating the campus policy and will likely be shut down. Campus art is also greatly discouraged. The Rowan Arts Collective, drew chalk in the Gazebo near the freshmen dorms, and in front of student center(free speech zone) and where asked to remove the beautifully drawn art and not to do it ever again. The RA's can range anywhere from very laid back or disgustingly anal/to the code.

It's not the worst, but it's frustrating.
College Sophomore 2013-12-09T19:06:59Z
You can walk pretty much everywhere when it's warm, the shopping centers are located right outside of campus, and there are convenience stores that dot the perimeter of Rowan. When it's get cold, that's when it becomes a hassle. The shuttle service runs frequently, but often skips people, and the public transportation getting into Philly is reliable and the last bus getting back is around 11-12, it's about a 45 minute bus ride. Having a longboard or bike lessens most of it, and having a car is the best option.
College Sophomore 2013-12-09T19:03:04Z
Rowan is a good school academically. has a lot of cool people, and there are fun things to do on campus. But, from the terrible drug policy, lame party scene, to the very obvious social/racial segregation, and the subpar food, if I had a choice, I might have picked another school. Equally cool experiences as lame ones.
College Sophomore 2013-12-09T19:00:35Z
In terms of availability of computer labs, and printing, there are a number of Computer labs situated around campus for printing, crunching, or just getting papers done. It's included in the tuition, so you never have to worry about paying for printing. Rowan Wireless Network however, is absolutely atrocious. It goes in and out a lot, as is completely unreliable in every sense of the word. Whether it's streaming Netflix or sending homework blackboard. It is a merciless chaos creator that has no sympathy or discrimination for students, professors, or administrators. Everyone hates it. Everyone. The campus offers free labtop and phone repair, and they're pretty good/on-time.
College Sophomore 2013-12-09T18:50:23Z
Glassboro is pretty boring. If there isn't a cool student organization activity, party, or if you're not in Philly, there will be nothing to do. At all. Cool for getting work done, but on the drier weekends, it can be a total pain in the ass.
College Sophomore 2013-12-09T18:48:05Z
The party scene at Rowan this year, is one word, Eh. There are good parties occasionally, the biggest party nights are Thursday and Saturday. On a good weekend there are about 7-10 parties on Thursday, 3-5 Friday, 5-7 Saturday. On a weekend where everyone decides to go home(still a big commuter school) there could be as little 3-5 thursday, 0 friday, 2-4 saturday. Don't let the number fools you though, just because there are upward of 7 parties in one night, you'll be lucky to get into 2 good ones the whole weekend. Very lucky. This is due in large fact to three things. 1 Ratio, Ratio, Ratio. If you try and get into a bumping frat or house party without bringing the appropriate amount of females(if you're a dude) or bringing too many guy friends(if you're a girl) don't expect to get into a lot of places after 11:30pm even with money. Most places are very strict with that. 2. To get into most parties for guys it costs $5 WITH ratio, so that usually eliminates party hopping, because if you want to leave, and the girls aren't coming, you're screwed and you'll have to pay another $5. 3. This one is usually the big fat, rain cloud, RoPo. Rowan Police is usually shutting down parties that get too crowded or popular within 2-3 hours of going on. So Project X-Glassboro edition not gunna happen. If of age, the local bar Landmark has decent drink prices, and dope first fridays and mexican mondays, and is usually packed saturdays. If these don't appeal to you, On Friday nights there is shuttle that goes to Philly from 7-12. Philly is awesome, however since the bus gets there at 7:30-7:40 and drops you off at the beginning of Front and South, if you want to go deep in before the first bus leaves 10:00 and don't wanna stay till 12, best off going earlier in the day or on a Saturday. Rowan After Hours and SUP! organize pretty cool events including free concerts, and movies that just came out within the past 2-8 months. There's also plenty of student organized events held at night, depending on the organization/time of year. There is fun, but one must look.

The main campus at Rowan is a pretty weird place. On one hand, you have very new buildings such as Rowan Engineer Building, Bunce Business Building, Science Hall, and The Campbell Library. On the other hand you have very old buildings like Robinson and the Student Center. The interior of most buildings is pretty nice, and feel fairly clean. There's a great disparity with Dorms, and there's a level of elitism associated right below the surface of every dorm choice. Rowan Boulevard and Whitney Center are the premier choices for upperclassmen and honor students respectively. Both are well kept, have keycard entries, and one room only. Also the most expensive. Edgewood and Townhouses are less expensive, but still not that bad themselves, with townhouses having their own room and kitchen. Although Edgewood doesn't have it's own room, the living room and kitchen are fairly spacious. Triad is the worst. Old, ugly, smelly and far as heck, it's the dumping ground for people who waited to long on the lottery, transfers, and people who can't afford the the other housing options. Chestnut, Mullica, Evergreen, Magnolia, Willow, and Mimosa are all fairly similar freshmen dorms. Chestnut and Mimosa are always the most popular dorms to live in, and usually have the prettiest girls. Small spaces in every dorm, unless you're living in a single. The social atmosphere is pretty interesting and has it's mix of hipsters, preps, jocks, skaters, stoners, drama kids, drug dealers, cheer leaders, nerds, political activists, weirdos, and every other stereotype in between. Culturally the average Rowan guy or gal is a White middle-upper middle class Caucasian that enjoys smoking weed, longboarding, and recreational underage drinking. That being said, there are a lot of interesting, and funny people that go here.
College Sophomore 2013-12-09T18:15:56Z
Thirsty Thursdays, F***ed Up Fridays, Savage Saturdays. The drinking on Rowan is pretty noticeable, most students can be seen stumbling back early on in the semester from parties. Most freshmen engage in underage drinking, and the RoPo(Rowan Police) are always out in the force Wednesday-Saturday Nights making sure students don't make poor decisions. There is a good amount of date rape that takes place at Rowan, and it's definitely a problem at the bigger Frat parties. However, after freshmen year, most respectable young gentlemen and ladies limit their goings to such places significantly and prefer to get inebriated with close friends in small gatherings, where the entrance fee isn't $1. A good amount of students are "trippy" and enjoy partaking in psychedelic experiences such as Shrooms, Acid, Molly, and the occassional Ketamine. There's also a large influx of research chemicals that pass as LSD, that can be found too if one knows the right people. And of course, like any other college campuses, Rowan University has a large stoner community. Almost as many people smoke weed as much as they drink, and in some social circles, cannabis is the preferred intoxicant of choice. Unfortunately Rowan has a terrible drug policy that kicks out or suspends students caught with or under the influence of marijuana or other drugs/paraphernalia. While at the same time handing out slaps on the wrist to those doing the same thing with Alcohol. Pretty annoying. Getting caught with weed or drugs on campus is a guarantee to losing housing THAT day, and a call to your parents.
College Sophomore 2013-12-09T18:05:43Z
If you want a location near the campus, you have to start almost 6 months-year ahead of time to get a good place that's affordable. If you have a car, longboard, or bike and don't mind a 10-15 place away from campus it's not bad at all, and a lot of places are reasonable with a good amount of space. That being said, A lot of houses do tend be farther off campus and make trips like food shopping, laundry, and eating out a serious hassle, especially when it gets cold.
College Sophomore 2013-12-09T18:02:20Z
Most people know the frats for throwing parties, but they are also known to be actively involved in the community. There are cool frats, nerdy frats, jerk frats. Most sorority girls are pretty stuck up, save a few.
College Sophomore 2013-12-09T18:00:39Z
It's alright. There is still a noticeable racial separation. For example, Black and White Frats do not hold yearly introductions together. The parties are usually split up between black and white parties. Although there is a great number of crossover, it's still very segregated. Even so far as campus events, with many black and ethnic students not attending a lot of the sponsored campus events such as Rowan After Hours or SUP! events.
