The Rowan Profs have found a lot of success on the athletic fields in recent years. Unfortunately, not many students seem to care or notice. All of Rowan's teams are NCAA Division III and play in the New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) against teams like Kean University, Montclair State University, New Jersey City University, Ramapo College, and William Patterson University. Rowan’s biggest rival in football is The College of New Jersey, and whenever the Profs play TCNJ, it’s an anticipated game. The homecoming game also attracts a fair amount of students, parents, fans, and professors interested in cheering on the Profs.
Most varsity sports are represented at Rowan at the Division III level, but certain sports, including tennis and men’s lacrosse, do not have teams at all here. On the brighter side, there are numerous club teams that students can join, including soccer, tennis, ultimate Frisbee, and many others. Club sports require a lot of time and effort. Most teams have games, matches, and tournaments on the weekends and have practices throughout the week. If all that commitment isn't for you, intramural sports are very popular and are usually played one or two times a week.
